Sorry in advance for the long read I'm a brand new member here and I just wanted to give a little background story with my problems hopefully somebody can come up with something to help. I purchased an 1125R back in october of last year from a Harley dealership after scouring the internet for just the right one I thought I had found it. The back story I got on this bike was the man who owned the dealerships son was hyped about the 1125 release so they ordered one in. After he got it he rode it around a little and decided it wasn't for him they never titled the bike so I'm considered the original owner. When I arrived at the dealership after a five hour drive the bike was still in a rack covered up and they said it had been in the rack for 5 years! After uncovering it I noticed it was hooked up to a battery tender tires were holding air the thing was immaculate so we rolled it out and turned the key this thing only had 598 miles on it I was so excited wasn't even thinking of what could go wrong in five years of storage. The mechanic told me it had stabilizer in the fuel and it should be ok after they added some fresh fuel. He pumped a little gas in and hit the starter switch and it immediately fired up so I hopped on and took it for a little ride. I have never been on one of these but i could tell the tires were flat spotted and knew from reading and researching that it had fueling problems and that was apparent but I already had a plan for that. I rode it for quite a while made sure I got it good and hot stopped at a service station along the way back and let it idle for a bit while I checked it out. No apparent leaks or anything out of the ordinary so I turned it off let it set for a few mins hit the switch fired right back up and drove it back to the dealership. We done the paperwork and loaded it up for the long trip home. After getting it home i changed the oil and had new tires put on the tires were a total transformation of the bike by the way but after that the weather didnt cooperate very well a little hit and miss riding but everything seem to work fine except leaving the kill switch on drains the battery still no leaks or anything so I considered myself pretty lucky. With all the bad weather not being able to ride I started ordering parts mostly little bolt on stuff cosmetic and things to make a more comfortable riding position. I did quite a bit of research and decided to get a RT3 exhaust from dean adams and I got the matching EBR ECM and K&N filter for the pipe. I followed the tps reset installing the ecm and everthing. After installing everything I fired it up let it idle for 10 mins like the instructions said all seemed to be going well took it out for a ride and man this combo really woke this beast up I thought it really ran well. Since the weather has warmed up I have ridden the bike alot more and realized while doing more practical riding than a test run it has a killer surge and miss around 3500 rpm and it gets worse the longer the engine has run. I took a little trip on it last week went about 140 miles on the interstate when i got off at the exit trying to drive it around town was horrible at 3500 it was backfiring and missing and sputtering like crazy. Im just wondering if it had this with the stock exhaust and i just couldnt hear it and thought it was a fueling issue with the stock ecm. I watched a video dean posted of low rpm riding with the ebr ecm and mine is nothing like that. How can I fix this and are there any other things I need to do to the bike. Thanks for reading and any help and insight is greatly appreciated. |

Are you running fresh fuel? after sitting for 5 years there can be scores of possible problems, just for grins put the stock ecm back on and see if that has any impact *** be careful as the fueling will be likely be some what lean vs the ebr, timing and fueling can cause these issues but the guess list begins with fuel delivery and injector condition. Does the bike run better at 5000 and up rpm or is it still missing cutting out? |

If oldog idea don't work maybe new spark plugs it will take about 1/2 to 1 hr to change. there is a way to clean them in the bike I don't remember for sure I think you hold the it wide open then turn the key on for a few seconds do it two or three times. DO NOT TOUCH THE STARTER SWITCH Some one will tell you if I am wrong good luck |

No it runs fine up to 3500 and after that point its just in that one spot is why its weird. But I find myself cruising at that rpm often and its very annoying. I will try the spark plug clean and maybe some fuel injector cleaner. I also noticed while I had the air filter out that the intake valves had some build up on them is there any remedy for that? Its not bad gas at the moment because I have ran several tanks through it because it now has 2600 miles on it. |

BTW - watch the fork seals. I bought an 09 in 2012 that only had 120 miles on it. Seals crapped out about 5k Not hard to replace, just watch for it. I had a 3 yr old crate honda years ago and it's seals went too |

My 09 with just over 6000 miles needs fork seals also. |

Put in seafoam, denoid it, change your plugs put in the ebr clutch update run it again if it still has a problem perhaps the ecm has an issue but I doubt it so that would be my last check. And you do NOT have to rotate the engine to change the plugs |

Do you still have to denoid it with the updated ecm? |

No, but I'd remove it anyway. It's a noise control device, you have an RT-3 on there so I don't think it's much of a concern at this point. |

Well Matteson buy one and you will. Your hearing might be impaired. But it's worth it. Dean, it there a gasket that needs to be replaced when you take your exhaust off the factory pipes like the oem one needs? |

My 4runner got stolen last week so cash flow is tight again. I had to buy a jeep to replace it. So I really don't have a thousand laying around for pipe and ecm. I already have the Jardine with the stock ecm. I was thinking of buying just the ebr ecm to match the J. But I want the rt3 so I have ben waiting. |

Could it be a leaking intake manifold, leaking exhaust, untight sparkplug? |

No, slip fit direct to the headers, gaskets are not used. |
