this could bring some spotlight to mororcycle racing. The Michael Jordan Yamaha team is here and will be fielding Montez Stewart on the bike in Supersport and Superstock. I've never watched an entire basketball game in my life, and obviously haven't played, but this Jordan fellow is said to be the most recognizable human on the planet, or so the story goes. The web site advertised on the side of the Jordan trailer is jumpman23.com, which spins to a Nike site, which gives some indication of who is sponsoring the team. Jordan is rumored to be coming in tomorrow to watch his rider and team perform, FWIW. The fresh from HRC Honda Superbikes are sitting in the traditional Honda garages on the far side of the paddock. The machines appear to look slightly more aerodynamic in the frontal area to my eyes. The Daytona weather looks wonderful for the foreseeable future. We'll be filing reports like mad in the morning. Check back. |

You lived in Bloomington, then moved to North Carolina, right? And you don't get into Basketball? Now that I think about it living in those places could turn a person off to basketball as much as make them love it. I lived in Newcastle for a few years and in Bloomington for two years (IU). But I still can't get enough of the college game. Mike. |

I mentioned to someone about Jordan expanding to cover motorcycles and they thought I ment like he did for baseball and was trying to figure out how Jordan would look doing a Nac Nac (we were talking freestyle MX when I mentioned this so they thought that was what I ment) |

heres more Basketball player and all around quite seriously tall individual Michael Jordan is at Daytona today with his team and his rider Montez Stewart. The Jordan team is pitted at the tail end of the garages, and are working out of a transporter. Montez looks about how you'd expect a guy in his situation to look: he's a decent pro-am rider trying to step up, and on top of all that, he's having to deal with more focus on his operation than anyone in that situation needs. Jordan's crew are in the house. Which is to say some of his friends are here. image by dean adams Team owner Jordan "isn't signing autographs today", but unless he can pull a 1:46.9 out of his gym bag, it's doubtful he's in much danger of being mobbed in this environment. |
