I just had mine done in black last week by Classic Coatings, who do the wheels for the Buell factory, and it cost $75 per wheel. The wheels look amazing. The powdercoat smoothes out the rough surface considerably. www.classiccoatings.com |

Along the same lines... Has anyone seen black chrome done on a exhaust? I believe they call it black nickel. I was wondering if it's possible, or if the black chrome's not suited for exhaust systems. Would powder coat hold up to the heat? |

Powder coating won't hold up to the heat. They use a ceramic coating that is very similar to the powder coat. Classic coatings has more info on their website. See link above. |

Gone, Not picture savy enough to post, but honestly the rims look fantastic. One real bonus to having Classic do them was that because they are extremely familiar with the Buell rims that they can perfectly tape off the parts of the rims that can't/shouldn't get coated such as bearing mounts and rim/pulley/disc surfaces. I sent my rims to them late on a Monday afternoon by UPS ground from upstate NY. Classic rec'd them that Wednesday morning and had them coated that afternoon. They were sent back to me that next day, Thursday afternoon, and ended up at my doorstep the following Monday morning, so total turnaround was about 8 hours short of 7 days. Pretty impressive IMHO. I was figuring it would be at least 2 weeks turn around. The person I dealt with at Classic was Mary Ann and she was a tremendous help as well as being very personable. |

Anyone know what the tape is that the coaters use to keep from coating unwanted surfaces? |

Just the tape that body work guys use to tape over cars for painting. It kinda baked it on,but its not to bad to get off.I peeled and scraped mine off with a razor blade the used acetone to remove the gummy residue---being VERY CAREFUL not to come into contact with the powdercoating with the acetoned rag! |

You could just sand the orginal finish on your wheels. Its bulletfroof and makes a good base. Then paint with your favorite Automotive Urathane. ![Centuri gloss black](http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/32777/48287.jpg) |
