I am a new member and a 2003 XB9S owner. I have been reading the postings for a few weeks now and have come to a couple of conclusions. First, I need a drummer, and I have spoken to the "little drummer boys" and upon reciept of my tax return...I will be a proud new owner. Second is this XB12 air box deal. Would any of you be willing to walk me thought what I need to do to accomplish this. I am trying to locate a part number for the air box, and basic info to complete the conversion. 1st- Do you replace the entire airbox or just the top. 2nd- Has everyone done a K&N filter addition while doing this as well? 3rd- I have read something regarding the snorkel...should it be removed during this conversion as well? Or is that a race kit thing? I hope you all can clear this up for me. I look forward to hearing from you all.

Welcome and congrats on the new Buell. Bubba can set you up with everything you need, since you've already been talking to him. You just replace the top of the air box(not the colored one, the one under it) with the 12 air box lid. Take the snorkel out of the hole in the frame where the air comes thru. Get the Race Air cleaner and put that in at the same time. You will also need the Race ECM for the pipe, airbox, aircleaner and everything to work right. You are in good hands dealing with Bubba and he will make sure you get the right stuff! Ride to the edge! Dave Iowa HD/Buell (Buell Cycle Center) |

1. Just the "top" (the air cleaner cover) is replaced. Part # P0215.1AA. 2. I added the K&N Race Filter at the same time. 3. Removing the snorkel seems to help, so it is usually done along with the Air Cleaner Cover and Filter replacement. I highly recommend these changes for better performance and sound! Mike. |

Has anyone had any problems with the XB12 airbox cover sealing well to the XB9 airbox? |

I have not. They mate perfectly if the gasket is intact, the filter is correctly positioned, and all the clips are fully engaged around the box. At least that has been my experience. YMMV. Mike. |

Do any of you have any hot deals for these parts? The K&N filter and XB12 airbox? I could purchase these locally...but I'm all about saving a buck if I can... |

Here is a silly question from another newbie... If I was to get the 1200 air box, do I need to get a air filter for a 1200 too, or is there no difference?
