I got a 2001 660 cc MZ Baghira, about four months ago, as a "runabout/ hack" bike. It was dirt cheap but needed a few minor parts on it. Long story short it has a intermittent (not just a Buell thing then) running and electrical issue that I need to fix but is hard as I have no garage to work out of the rain. Anyway the Uly has been put back into service. Man what a GREAT bike. Even though it weighs 25kg MORE than the MZ it is MUCH easier to move about by hand. Has "arm chair" comfort. I Re fitted the battery and it started first time. It run perfect as well. Smooth clutch and gearbox. It is the power and torque that this thing makes that I forget. Granted the engine is twice the size of the MZ so it is going to be better but I am doing twice the speed I was with little effort from the engine or shifting through the gearbox. I also forgot that you can stay in 4th most of the time and use engine breaking rather than the brakes. Oh and the other thing is that the MZ is doing the SAME mpg (about 43 mpg) over the same city traffic runs as the Uly. Which I think is just outstanding from the Uly. |

I concur. When I told my wife I wanted to dump some more $$ into the Uly she asked me why I just don't get another motorcycle or quit riding altogether. I just looked at her with sympathy and the understanding that she doesn't "get it" when it comes to motorcycling. |

xbimmer, get you're wife a bike. the best accessory i ever bought for my road king was a 1200 sporster sport for the wife. i always say, get her in gear and get her off the rear. just saying, its what worked for me. wishing you the best at home ! |

When I asked my wife if she would like her own bike, she told me I could save some money by just buying her a coffin and headstone instead. There are some people that just never "get it". So sad. |

Buewulf. My wife has no interest in riding either and is concerned with the safety. She is a great supporter though and understands that I feel very different. All she asks is that I wear very good equipment, which I would do anyway, and call at each stop to check it. Hey, it works well for us. |

Reminds me of the story where the guy is trying to get his girlfriend to ride on the back of his motorcycle. She said "No way, it's too dangerous." He said "Well, when your time is up... your time is up" to which she replied "Yeah, but when your time is up, I don't want to be on the back of your motorcycle!". I am lucky that my wife likes to go for a ride once in a while but not all the time. Works for me... |

My wife rides with me nearly everywhere. She just loves to ride, she has no desire to pilot her own but I can't keep her off the back of mine! |

I can't keep my wife off my back either. LOL! Seriously, my wife enjoys an occasional ride if the conditions are ideal. |
