Is it reasonable to replace the head bearings on my own or would it be a bit wiser to pay someone with a press to do it? Humm do they make a cheap hand pump press to do the job? |

That probably depends on your skill level. I've never had to replace bearings on any Buell model, but i'm guessing the tool is a piece of allthread, with a nut and washer on top and bottom, with a "nice" bearing for the steering head bearing to ride on, and probably a cup so that the load is applied to the outter race. I don't have the manual here with me, so I can't say for sure. I'd also venture to guess you drive the old ones out with a bearing driver. Like I said, no manual here, just an educated guess. If you're a DIY guy and are mechanically inclined, i'm certain you could make your own setup using allthread, nuts, washers, and maybe a pair of sockets that match the diameter of the outer race. |

Thermal methods work very well. They just pop right in. |
