Just noticed that the AMA Pro Racing Board of Directors has changed (according to Superbikeplanet). No wonder the bike racing scene is in such disarray over there. How many of these people actually have ANYTHING to do with or know anything about motorcycle racing? AMA Pro Racing's Board of Managers is comprised of the following: David Atlas, Chief Business Development Officer, AMA Pro Racing Tom Bledsoe, Vice President, Administration, NASCAR George Silbermann, Vice President, Regional and Touring Series, NASCAR Todd Wilson, Vice President, Finance and Governance, NASCAR Mark Raffauf, Series Director, Ferrari Challenge & Lamborghini, IMSA Forgive my ignorance..but of three of the four people in charge come from car racing (I use the term loosely insofar as NASCAR is concerned) I suspect they have very little appetite for promoting racing motorcycles. The US has plenty of high profile ex racers and team bosses that should be involved in the future of the sport surely? This is gonna turn out to be an interesting race after all! But you won't be able to watch it unless you buy a ticket.....No TV deal (surprise surprise). |

I do have a ticket and I will be there but DMG/AMA should be scrambling to turn this around immediately since John Ulrich was able to put together 3 races with TV coverage at tracks the AMA could not get in less than 90 days. If anything it proves DMG/AMA are replaceable. I've said before if NASCAR is in charge then there has to be total cross market operations, otherwise its a conflict of interest as they are both competing for the same sponsors, fans, tv coverage and promotional effort. |

I was really hoping for RX race bikes in AMA. Getting kinda sick of hearing "they're down on horsepower" rolling out of peoples mouths. Can they integrate anything form the RX into the RS to gain some HP? I know what it's like to show up to the track knowing is a mid pack machine and it gets old really quick. |

Engine wise, I bet there is very little different between the RX and RS racebikes. But I could be wrong. |

Engine wise, I bet there is very little different between the RX and RS racebikes. Erik seems to confirm this in the interview in Cycle News, 19 Feb 2014: Q: But then you launched the 1190RX volume production model at the Orlando show in October, and this is not only a lot less expensive than the 1190RS, but also more powerful. How did that come about? A: In street form it’s indeed more powerful, though obviously both can be the same power in racing trim [emphasis added]. We just had the time to develop some more sophisticated strategies from an engine management perspective, and also redesign the combustion chamber. Okay, so now color me "confused." Previous posts here stated that the 1190RX had NOT been homologated for AMA Racing, and that Pegram and West would be campaigning last year's 1190RS instead. But just now, I see THIS article online: http://blog.motorcycle.com/2014/03/07/motorcycle-n ews/cory-west-ride-ebr-1190rx-2014-ama-superbike/ If it's on the internet, it MUST be true, right? |

Also, on AMA's FB page, they announced the 200 could, possibly, may be televised... www.fanschoice.tv still apparently under development and possibly a pay-per-view type thing online and a short intro clip on youtube. (Message edited by m2typhoon on March 07, 2014) |

Previous posts here stated that the 1190RX had NOT been homologated for AMA Racing, and that Pegram and West would be campaigning last year's 1190RS instead. It seems like that in AMA race trim there'd be very little, if any difference in an 1190RS and an 1190RX, but it's a good question. |

Interesting- press release from EBR up at Road Racing World: http://www.roadracingworld.com/news/cory-west-to-r ide-amsoilhero-ebr-in-2014-ama-pro-superbike-champ ionship/ It just says they'll be riding "EBR 1190" motorcycles. Cory West posted up on Facebook about it, so I asked him if they're RS's or RX's. I'll let you know if he responds. |

They will start on RS's at Daytona but who knows what they will be riding as the season progresses. I think that they want to share some data with the EBR WSBK team for advantages for both teams. |

The fact that John has been able to do this at all let alone so quickly makes me quite ambivalent. I'm super excited for the additional rounds and TV and western tracks! It thoroughly pisses me off with DMG as it is clear to me that the (NAS)car types in charge are either utterly incompetent or purposefully killing the sport to support their other ventures. I hope what John Ulrich has done grows into a DMG replacement. |

Cory's text to me today after riding at Jennings. I don't think he pushed it today, just getting comfortable on the bike. "All went well at the track. Rode just long enough to get comfy and feel em out. All good!" |
