Team ASBN - We had a good planning meeting at my house in January. We ate well and hung out, then settled in the great room where we brainstormed, shared our thoughts and brainstormed some more. We realize that our numbers are down and that our meetings do not justify getting guest speakers and such on a regular basis. We also do not have the fuel to keep this format up. It becomes work rather than recreation. So we decided we needed to revert a bit back to the more simple itinerary of fascination with our bikes, some necessary business of course, and more destination rides and smaller after work jaunts for coffee, etc. Then once a quarter, we will break off a destination ride/meeting. Curt had some great ideas here. These destinations will be posted in a separate announcement coming in the next few days. Additionally, the parking lot will once again loom as a center piece of the meetings. We also determined that we will remain a Buell enthusiast group. The strongest statements to that end came from some of the guys who do not currently own Buells. Everything else is of interest, but we are not dumping Buell to become a well rounded generic club. I had a blast in ASBN back in the day when Woz, Rex and Jack held court. It was personable, simple and FUN. Let’s get there again. Lastly, we will be begin meeting at Don Jose’s in Castro Valley this February 3rd and thereafter as well. Meeting starts at 6:30 as usual. We will have our own room, but we will not have our own music. We will be meeting here for the foreseeable future. The address is: Don Jose’s Mexican Restaurant (they serve burgers too) 3430 Village Drive Castro Valley, CA Be there or be square! ASBN |

Rex: This is great news. Like the Swiss Army knife of moto-social groups . . . over the years . . .you guys have been able to see trends, waxing and waning interest, and what folks want and need and have morphed ASBN to be what it's participants NEED it to be at the time. . . . I credit a lot of the staying power to you guys having your pulse on the people. I'm excited to hear about your new direction and eager for you to keep us updated. Now that you're no longer having guest speakers . . . . I may have to come visits. I've done a thousand parking lots for Buell over the years and have never failed to meet amazing folks. Best wishes to you guys and Go get 'em! Court |

Arizona . . . Bay Area . . . wherever . . can't fool me. If you're involved . . . it's gonna be good. :-) It's a pattern. |

Updates on our meetings. Northern Cal. Great meeting last night. Jon said there were 15 people at the meeting, and it was cold. Planning on doing Quail again this year. Arizona. 10 people at the meeting last night, and yes, it was chilly last night in Arizona too. Discussed possible Rides this year. Spring fest is coming up shortly. REX |

We had a good meeting tonight at our new place, Don Jose’s in Castro Valley with about 16 in attendance. The neighborhood, food, and establishment are clean and safe, not only for stomachs but also for really cool bikes like the Ghezzi Brian that showed up. Betcha you didn’t have that in AZ. That from a 2nd time attendee who lives in Castro Valley. He also plans on bringing four bikes to Quail. He is coming by himself, I suggest we give him a hand. > > We took up a collection for Quail and took in $130 bucks. Let’s figure out how I get this to you, Rex. Everyone seemed interested in going. > > We had a new attendee, Mark, who has three (3) M2’s. He wants to do Death Valley and other rides. > > We will be having a destination ride to Dudley Perkins this month, details to follow. Additionally we plan to hit the Blackhawk Automobile Museum on the last Sunday of the month. Curt to broadcast details on Blackhawk, Joe W to broadcast details on Dudley Perkins. > > Bill Keys is back on Buell, but is looking for some band aids for his ride. Good to see him. Bill is going to see what the possibility is for us to have some event(s) at his facility in Fremont. > > Curt Relic handed out some prizes and we hung out in the parking lot, gawking at the Ghezzi. > > By all accounts, we are rolling forward with steam. We’ll have some nip and tuck here and there, but we are stable. > > I have attached a couple of grainy pics from my i-phone. > > See you soon! > |
