I am planning on power coating a cam cover. Do I need to remove, replace and line boar the bushings or can I leave them in for the entire process? It's a polished finish presently. |

Brass bushing u can leave in... but the shift seal needs to be removed. I'm powdercoating mine next weekend along with my primary. |

The shift shaft seal is not in the cam cover. You can leave the bushings in, they're metal, and won't mind the heat, just tape off anything you don't want powder on. |

The shift shaft seal is not in the cam cover. ; ) no but the timing chamber seal is, and there are oil passages on the gasket side to be covered, as well, there is also a vent IIRC on the rear near the top good luck.. } |

Sorry.. that's what I meant... at Disney with the kids and between them and stupid auto correct on my phone I didn't really mean what I said... lol.... I was saying "shaft seal"... funny it changed shaft to shift |

NRHS used to powder coat cam covers when the cut them down, I spoke with them about it when I had my last one done and they said they quit doing it because at curing temperature they had a few bushings fall out so I have painted mine instead. someone here just recently had theirs powder coated and they had no issues...so I dunno.... I would have preferred to have had mine powder coated...but I felt like going the safe route.. let me know! |
