So, I found an 1995 S2 w/a tad over 12k on the odometer that looks like a 9.5 out of 10. Mods limited to Corbin seat, D&D muffler, and a set of special made bars that are a little longer than the touring bars; bike has original PM wheels and even the fairing bags are not faded whatsoever. Comes w/the stock and touring bars, original seat, aftermarket passenger backrest, stock muffler, etc. The bike is beautiful and obviously babied its entire life. Red w/white frame.

What's the top end of the reasonable price range on a bike like I just described? Not wanting to steal it from the guy, but I don't want to pay more than what is reasonable. He knows it's a collectors item and doesn't need to sell, so no one will be getting a bargain on it; I also bet that he won't let it go to anyone other than a Buell enthusiast.

Input appreciated. Who knows, maybe I'll be joining the S2 club!

Hopefully you will join the S2 club...Neat bikes. sounds like a good bike. 3500-5500 maybe? depends on what he wants for it. you can buy some as low as 2500 or less.

I have a White on white, with white wheels. Needing to sell. I need a new belt and the fork seals changed. new battery, new rear tire. corbin seat, super trap muffler.
I would want $3800 for mine. with new belt and fork seals, $4200.

I also have a red on white, with pm wheels. I am rebuilding it. Everything is there. I still need to get a title for it. Has an S3 motor, so I need to have that motor number and the frame number logged in and a new title made. I still have the original engine case with matching numbers to the frame. brought back to life. Needs a battery and a carb cleaning. I am thinking of $2800 for it.

$5800 for both. In Arizona. Good deal, I think.

Rex,

Thanx for the info. Wish I lived in AZ. I might just take both off your hands.

He listed the bike over a year ago about a grand over the top of your price range. He's come down a bit, but not quite enough for me to bite just yet. He's more towards the top of your range at this point. I'm hoping he'll come off a little, since I'm an enthusiast that'll cherish the bike for what it truly is!

I think "top end of reasonable range" depends a lot on what part of the country you are in, but in the current market Rex's $5500 sounds about right out here in California. Beaters go as low as $2500 or lower on occasion, but really nice ones are pretty hard to find.

Mine was somewhere between those two numbers when I bought her - not pristine, but a damned nice rider with a lot of performance mods. Same color as yours at first, although my favorite color combo is Red Snap with White Marchesini's, so I changed the wheels.

These are tough questions to answer these days...it's like American Pickers.

"When's the time to buy something funky and unusual? WHEN YOU FIND IT".

S2's are just...not out there anymore. ESPECIALLY unmolested. If you like the bike...buy the bike. You won't find another one for a better price next week - there weren't that many to begin with, and survivors are getting harder and harder to find. And if you DO find one...chances are the owner won't sell it.

+1 to what Ratbuell said,

I passed up the right one, only to decide I really wanted one, and now I am neck deep in saving a very rough version and will have over twice the original purchase price of the first one I looked at and walked away from.. should have bought the first one!

I bought my first one in '08 for $2900, with 20K mi logged and $4000ish in extras (bags, lowers, PMs, D&D, hurricane flow A/C, WesTek bars, etc). But I also beat a ton of people to it and flew from Amarillo to Detroit to pick it up. Cosmetically it was about an 8/10. I'm about to pick up another one after letting mine go about 3 yrs ago. But I gotta wait for my buddy to put it back together :P.

I am torn. I am almost 70 years old and have had a scoot since I was 20, in fact, I once owned a Kawasaki MC shop and even road raced at Edmonton International Speedway. Sadly, my beautiful '95 S2 has languished in my garage for 3 years and was ridden shamelessly seldom before that. I have thought of selling it as it is getting harder for me to handle. My driveway to the garage is sloped and twisted so I have to be super careful backing it in, (we all know about the side stand issue, IMO the only serious fault in the bike). Every time I think of selling I realize I just can't bear to be without a bike, especially that one. I guess the time has come but only someone who really appreciates this bike can buy it. Full details are on my profile. I have the original package Buell sent for the signature edition, card, letter, signed timing cover and spec sheet, along with the '96 miniature brochure. I even have a full size original brochure. I am ashamed to say the bike has only 6241 miles on it. It has been lovingly maintained and cared for and needs a new home. If anyone is interested please send me a private email from the site.

Wow. Garyb, would love to see photos of it. Sounds like a jewel. I also have two S2 frames and body work. My goal is to rebuild them also. just low on money these days. My job ended December 2nd. Sold one of the cars, sold the rss 1200. Now to sell the two S2's, the triumph with the sidecar. So far, not wanting to sell my M2......bought that one new in 97 and want to keep it.

Gary - sorry to hear of your dilemma, but I do understand it. Hurts not to own one...hurts to see it neglected, even in your own garage.

I suspect you have found the correct market, should you decide to sell and require it goes to a good home. This is a good bunch here - if one of us ends up with your S2, I'm sure it will be properly cared for.

Would love to see some photos. If you're not sure how to post here (it can be...tricky), send me a PM and I'll get you my email address. Happy to resize them and post them for you, if you email some to me.
