Hey guys I have a 09 bolt with 10k I am getting a whining noise from primary area. I pulled it all apart and only thing I found was the 2 out of the 6 clutch springs seems to be rattling. The primary chain was tight enough. I didn't find play in any of the bearings. The clutch fluid smelled burnt I was only getting a tad of slip at wot 2nd and 3 gear Help please Don't wanna damage anything |

Whine typically indicates the primary chain is too tight, try to loosen it a little bit and see how it does. |

It as whining and i tightened the chain it didn't change whining noise. Are the 2 clutch springs supposed to be shorter then then rest? Somebody sayed it could be the clutch plates. But I figured I would be getting more slip I supposed to be going on 6 hour trip in 4 week hope I can get t fixed |

You should loosen, not tighten the primary chain to relieve whining. As long as it does not slap the case, there is no need ever to tighten it. They don't stretch unless you perform racing starts. 10K miles is not nearly enough to have worn out either the clutch or the primary chain. Did you slowly rotate the chain throughout its length to set it at the tight spot? High gear, plugs out, rear wheel off floor, turn wheel while checking chain tightness every few inches. |
