this thread is a refresh/retitle of the old thread titled "replacement side stand" which eludes to a new kick stand as opposed to the upgraded or redesigned side plate/kick stand mount. I thought the title could be confusing so I am re-initiating here under this title to help garner interest and energy. |

I have found someone that can reproduce the side plate for newer style kickstands. outstanding machinist who does one off style custom work as a business. Greg_Cifu, it might help speed up the process if you were to make your scans (see old thread "upodated side stand" ) available to me in a CD I can send him. He is not asking for them, I just thought it might help him get to work faster. now the big question: DOES ANYONE have a side plate with the updated design that I can borrow to get to the machinist. if it came with a loaner kick stand that would be awesome....however I will buy one from ebay if I have to. ANYONE?? |

Buelljunkie, thanks for your comments and support in the previous thread. I really think we can do this and for what some might consider a "price well worth it". I just need to find a upgraded plate from the old run done in the 90s to help kick this off. I have already talked to the machinist and he says he can make ANYTHING so these should not be a problem, and he REALLY enjoys making custom parts even if they are low production runs. if anyone knows of a plate that I can borrow.....I can get this running and handle all up front shipping and tracking and mocking parts up on my own bike.... |

Rex, I'm trying to work a rough estimate for starters, but I think he wants the part in hand..... Would you be willing to loan me yours to use as the piece to copy? |

Rex, PM sent. spoke to the machinist today and he says he only needs the part for about a day to get a scan from it and turn a quote to me. |

Got a stock one? I'd need something to hold my bike together while it's missing... |

Ive never had a side plate off as I am just getting into this S2 business...albeit Im now more than neck deep! does removing the side plate cause the motor, swing-arm or frame to shift? I need mine long enough to do a motor swap. my bike is standing up in a condor bike stand so I don't require the kickstand. I will either pull mine after the motor swap, or if there is no impact to the motor swap by the plate being missing I will pull it today and ship it to you. Anyone have a "spare" sitting in a box of collected Buell parts? |

Rex, does the upgraded design have a better kickstand mount that provides a proper detent for the kickstand as well as the better lean angle? |

The sideplate holds the isolator...which holds the motor. |

so a little problematic if I am getting ready to do a motor swap.... plus I just looked at mine, and on of the bolts that that goes into the frame is rounded off...going to have to work on pulling that today since I am home from work. the last guy to work on this bike should have his tools taken away from him but my guess is he only has two, a hammer and an adjustable wrench..... ok, anyone have one sitting in a box that I can borrow to loan to Rex? the other option is we wait until I get this motor swap complete then I ship mine out, Id like to get the motor completely swapped, everything buttoned up to identify if I have any issues, then remove my plate after that.. so to keep this moving... I will cover all shipping costs for bouncing parts back and forth to original owners... |

Thanks Don! do you have the stock design or the upgraded design? PM sent with an address. any chance you have both a left and a right side and I will have him design up a matching CNC set? THANKS! Ratbuell, once I get the side plate from Don I will remove my kickstand since my bike is stored on a condor bike stand currently, unless you have a kickstand and you don't need me to send you one? let me know what you need and I will send it. once you receive this plate can you send me your upgraded one and the new style kick stand as well? does the upgraded design have a better kick stand detent or is that something that as long as I am at this I should have the machinist design one into it? |

I've just noticed this. I have my original sideplate (complete with snapped off sidestand lug) sitting in the garage somewhere. I'm sure Don's will get to you sooner though! I've been kicking myself since missing out on that last pair of sideplates from American Sport Bike. I baulked at the price initially (as I only wanted the left hand plate) and by the time I had convinced myself that they were worth it they'd gone. |

Court, is yours attached to your bike or is it sitting as a spare? Do you have a kickstand with it? Ratbuell has committed his, but I'd like to make this as easy and as fast as possible. Would you need a stock plate and kickstand as a loaner while yours is out? I have no idea of the cost of this "venture"' By the way I am unable to email to include receive PMs as the yahoo server I am on has crashed and been down for two days. |

Mine is loose and in a box somewhere . . my only caveat is that it's in one of about 49 boxes and I've no clue which one . . and am preparing to move again. I can dig it out but if Dave in FL has one that may work better. If you need mine, I'll sure start digging. |

Dave, PM sent! COURT, sounds like you're swamped with a move, I appreciate you're willingness to help, but save your sanity during the move, I've got parts readily avail to assist! Ratbuell, as soon as I get a left plate and kickstand it will be sent to you ASAP! Please send newer kickstand with your plate. Machinist is standing by for parts. I'm going to have him copy a full set in case anyone wants left and right CNC instead of cast. Thanks!!! |

apparently the server on Yahoo that my account is on crashed.... so if you are sending me a PM I wont receive it until they get the server back up and running. if you need to get a hold of me, leave me a note to PM you and I will reach out and leave a different way to contact me. how's that for timing??? |
