Ok, here she is in all her glory...

Feast your eyes on her unfettered beauty including:
* Custom Windscreen
* Custom Shock Mount
* Custom front turn Signals
* Too Many items to list...

Seriously she is rough, but complete, bags and all. Already torn down and in paint, chrome etc. I have amassed many NOS parts along with some performance goodies.

Some of you know the issues I have had matching the powder coat on the frame and I finally called "no joy". So I am going OEM colors, just not S2T OEM. I vow to make her a beauty, and I am on the fast track for the restore with completion February 2014.

I will be posting my progress, so please stay tuned. I look forward to you comments and suggestions.

Beardo: The windshield was a home made job by one of the previous owners, not my doing.

Steveford: Tiger Drylac Blue Dormant 049/40940

Thanks!
I always thing of that as THE Buell frame color.
I've got two inquiries in for recommended aircraft epoxy primer and it kind of looks like today's gas is actually damaging the paint on the fiberglass covers.
Perhaps primer the fuel tank and even the inside of the tank cover while you've got it stripped down?

I would keep the original front brake rotor, even if it pulsates. I have a remedy worth trying.

I always thought the Nuclear Blue was a 2 step paint process? Silver then the Blue?

I had a local custom painter match as close as she could to touch up my wheels (S3T though) and she did a great job.

Nice project!

I need to reinstall my lowers, timing cover, and install some heated grips I found on the shelf.

Does that count as my winter S2 project? ; )

Kc_zombie, how's the project coming along? Are you going to make yours a "T" version with bags, if so are you using S2T bags or the conversion of S3T bags on an S2? It looks like I saw a bag mount rack in the group of stuff to go off to the powder-coater. If your are doing the conversion rack for an S3T bag on an S2 I have a very small very simple bracket to share with you to help with the extra tie in point where the bumper sits. the S3T bags on the conversion rack don't quite line up at the last point that you can run a bolt through to tie into the bumper point so I made a very small simple bracket to "bridge"...had it cut out of aluminum. Ill shoot you the design and a photo if that's the route you're going.

It's coming along fine, just waiting on bottom end to come back. I had the case bead blasted, bearings and journals replaced, new rod bearings too along with having the crank balanced and the cam case line bored. Hope to put the motor together over the next 30 days or so.

The bike started life as a T so it has the bags and side fairings. I think I am going to stay with the S2T bags, even though I understand they are not as nice as the bags from the S3.

Please send a picture of your setup, I am interested just in case I decide to change over to the S3 bags.

Body work goes to the painters just as soon as the replacement front fairing arrives. Also have bars and a few other parts out for fresh chrome.

I will shoot you a pm. Thanks!

wow, you're going with a complete build, down to bare cases! What size motor are you going back with? my S2 engine has a break on the right side where the bolt for the shock arm mount and the exhaust hangar goes through so I had to buy a motor from a 98 S3T. it has a fresh top end, so I'm not going to tear it down, not sure I could get one back together If I took it down to bare cases.... but as I pull of timing cover, remove oil pump and oil pump drive gear I am finding on a very little wear in the oil pump drive gear, no metal shavings and everything appears to be ok so fortunately I don't have to take this motor down that far. Have you settled on a color? its going to be a beautiful bike!

Yeah, it was pretty rough. Just click on the first pic in this thread it will take you to the gallery. The teardown pics are clickable too.

Not sure on the motor yet, something mild or even back to stock. I am leaving the bottom end stock, crank, etc. with exception to upgrading the oil pump, thats about it. I am always open to suggestions. I put my S1W motor back together stock and I am happy with that.

I just can't get myself amped up to build a performance motor for this thing for some odd reason.

Color scheme will be Nuclear Blue and Ice White Pearl with some blacked out and chrome bits. Adding CF rear fender in lieu of the 96 OEM.

I am retaining all of the stock parts, just in case I decide to go back sometime down the road.

Front fairing is in. I went with an Airtech fairing even though some folks warned me of quality and finish issues. Well the OEM quality (IMHO) was not all that hot either, so I took the gamble...click to see the gallery.

Initial inspection of the piece looks pretty good. Glass layup looks even, no "thick" parts. Need to drill holes and sand to a paint-able finish. For the money I am not disappointed.

Speaking of Airtech and sorry to get off of Kc_zombie's S2 topic which I have been following being an S2 fan, has anyone had any experiance with the Airtech RS/RSS fueltank replacement. I have a sick original I may end up trying to find a replacement for.
