I had a 180 on mine once, but it didn't corner as well and I went back to the 170 |

I had a dealer make due for me to get me back on the road with a 160 once. Pretty bad but got me home. I don't have the PM wheels though. |

180 will work but will turn in a bit slower. I don't think you could go any bigger, at least not on my 2000 M2, that 180 was just about riding the rear hugger fender. |

So 180/60?? I took the fender off on mine.. I really do not do hard conering well I do I just don't test the limits so the bigger tire won't disrupt my daily driving. |

Why not stick to OEM tire size? |

I ran a 190 on my S1 to get through a season ( with the aluminum swingarm and pm wheels) barely cleared the belt. I run a 180 know which is the correct size for the pm rear |

I'm with KC - why change? I run PR3's on my tubers - current tire tech, dual compound, excellent transitional handling, and the correct size for the motorcycle. |

On an x1 the 170 was stock. I have had both. The 170 makes the bike feel like it handles better. Easier to flick around. |

Thats good to know. My new X1 has PM's and a 170 on it. Was the factory size difference due to rim width? |

so...I just put new tires on three of my Buells within the last 8 months....my S3T with PM wheels has the 180...My S1W with PM wheels has a 170..and I just put tires on my S2 with PM wheels today...and the shop told me stock tire size was a 170..oddly enough that's what was on it...so two of my bikes with PM wheels have the wrong size....damn bike shop...as if I didn't already know this....always, always, always go to the manual or check here! any issues I can expect with too narrow of a tire on my PM wheels??? |

I run a 170 on my S1W. Michelin Pilot power tires on the aluminum nuclear blue Marchesini rims. The PM rim may have more width than the aluminum rims. |

Michilin Pilot Road 180/55 ZR17 and PM rims are slightly wider then stock Buell rims if a mechanic just goes by year and manual they will show 170 PM wheels are an add on. |

Both my tubers had PM wheels, one had Dunlop Qualifiers 170/60 it measured 6-3/4" wide the other had 180/55 Pirelli Strada it measured 6-1/4". The last 170/60 Conti Road Attack I mounted was 6-3/8" wide. Go figure. |

I have two tubers, a '96 S1 with PM wheels, and an X1 with the 3 spoke wheels. I have a 180 Dunlop Qualifier on the S1 rear, and a 170 Dunlop Q2 on the X1 5" rear. According to the Dunlop online Catalog, a 170 is the correct size tire for the 5" rim, and 180 is best for the 5.5". Street handling (not extreme riding) for the two bikes is pretty similar. Both have 2nd recall short rear shocks. It now gets a little tricky. The on line catalog does not list a 170 size for the new Q3 tire. Darn. |

thats funny.. I always thought the 5.5" PM called for a 180. I run a 180 on my X1 on my 5.5 XB wheel. Zero issues. |

Standard 3-spoke wheels here on my X1. Just replaced the stock 170 Dunflops with 180 Michelin Pilot Power 2CT. I've had zero issues and haven't noticed a difference other than these seem like much better feeling tires to me. Seems like the 180 size has a lot more options available that I'm interested in. YMMV, Nels |

I have a 170 pilot road 3 on a 3 spoke wheel. Works just fine did several trips so it is wearing out in the center. Should get 10,000 miles when it is done has a little over 9 on it now. |
