Are the rear frame loops for passenger pegs strong enough to use as a bike lift point? I have been mentally toying with the idea of having custom spools made that will fit onto the passenger peg mount point to give those darn loops a purpose other than passenger pegs...I think a nice custom billet spool that perfectly fits over the (clevis?) on the loop and bolts through the spool , through bolt hole that the foot peg bolt passes through for a very clean design that makes those things functionally more than an eye sore....but I am concerned with the integrity or strength of the weld to use that as a lifting/jack point. any thoughts? | ||

Yes absolutely, they are strong enough to use in lifting up the bike. What you propose sounds like a really good idea. I'm not sure if you need a custom spool, just a regular spool and rig up a hardware solution. Like maybe a flathead metric allen with a long nut in the middle nut to fix the two 'male' ends together? | ||

What a great idea, Jolly! I'm definitely gonna look into that one. Added bonus - you'll never have to ride 2-up! IMO these bikes were NOT made for passengers. My back seat rarely sees more than a small tour pak! Once in a while the old lady doesn't want to ride her own, so I'll let her get on the back. Ugh! My nimble machine becomes a sloshy slug. Yes, I'm exagerating...but I'm sure you get the point. BTW, Jolly...just curious, have you measured what the width between the spools would be? | ||

I have been thinking of this for a long time, like the idea on how in the world do I get 1 1/8 bars on my s1 or x1..and special thanks to gmaan03 for the machine work to turn that one into a reality..its cool and still mounts the stock gauge plate!! what I envision is a custom spool that's female recessed on one side to slip over the clevis design that's welded onto the passenger loop and then on a cross direction has a recessed passage for an allen head bolt so that it mounts up smooth utilizing stock design but makes it look purpose built for the lifting spool. so now...I need a machinest...I can run all mock up or even model something up out of clay or wood, but I just don't know a damn thing about CAD or CNC.... | ||

Thx to a BadWebber I flipped the rear pegs over on my M2 while working on the primary chain. With a pair of jack stands the bike was 8" higher and my back was grateful! | ||

Duh! My round Storz passenger pegs would work perfectly, by simply rotating them 180°... The best ideas are often the simplest! | ||

I am looking for a bolt on and leave in place solution that makes the passenger peg loops something other than...well.....passenger peg loops, I have a half worked solution that cuts them off at about 4 inches then sandwiches them with aluminum plates for heel guards...my local machinest has been working that for over a year...well ok, I wouldn't say "working it"....I have mock up photos but don't have the CAD or machine capability, so my next thought was bolt on machined "spools" for a lift point...I just hate the look of the loops even with the pegs removed..if I can give them a different purpose or function then the work into a certain design element.. if there is a machinest out there that would like to bring the heel guard idea to a reality...I will send you what I have...??? | ||
