got a 9-plate Barnett kit from American Sportbike. two things: asks to not use Formula + and no EZ Pull. I do have Mueller clutch. will it not work with the Barnett kit? Also, what is this about using ATF? is Formula + really not OK? |

I have always found the extra plate clutches to be more trouble than they are worth. I would stick to the standard 8 plate style Barnett clutch and use the Muller Power Clutch. The 9 plate clutches can be hard to adjust and I've known a few that dragged all the time so that the buyer just got fed up and removed them. because of the extra plate you can't use the Muller power clutch with it unfortunately. As for trans fluid, either the standard sport trans fluid ar a decent synthetic like Mobil 1 V-Twin or H-D synth is good. |

Thanks for all the advice. Particularly to American Sportbike (off-line). Found the clutch throw-out bearing badly worn and clutch fiber plates at near limit. The spring plate was still intact. Put in Barnett 9-plate as per instructions. Also replaced my Muller Power Clutch with the original unit. Very impressed with the results. None of the Barnett 9-plate side-effects such as chirping sound and grabby clutch. Very good friction zone and strong engagement. The clutch action is silky smooth with the new bearing too. Also, running Formula +. Excellent shifting, finding neutral without issues. Will miss the Muller though, the old ramp makes the clutch considerably stiffer |

Have hundreds of runs down the strip and many miles on the road on a 9 plate Barnett with SE heavy spring plate and no issues whatsoever.. |
