Today, when I started my 1125R, all seemed ok. After a short ride, I noticed oil stains on my right pant leg and on the ground where the bike had been started. I looked around and noticed that the oil had spurted out through the dipstick "hole". It's not the weeping clutch issue as it seemed to spurt from the top and not around the clutch cover. Over filled? Dipstick came loose with time? Last time I added oil was back in August. The bike had been stopped for a week and the temperatures here have been around the 32F - 52F. Not sure if cold, thick oil would push back up the dipstick hole when I cranked the starter? | ||

I forgot to put the dipstick back in one time for a short jaunt around town and my foot, bike, tire were covered with oil. So yes I would say it can spurt out of the dipstick hole. | ||

Thanks guys. It's only going to go out once or twice more before storage so I'll keep an eye on it next time starting. Just in case, I've made super sure the dipstick is screwed on tight. At least I didn't see any cracks in the engine casing!  |
