Geoff May haasn't really done his homework has he? “From what it looks like, and from what I’ve been told, we can pretty much drive to all the races within one days travel. That’s definitely a lot more appealing than sitting on an airplane all the time.” Somebody show that guy a map and a calendar of WSb races next year It's WSb Geoff, not BSB. |

Maybe ..... he means SUPESTOCK .......which is part of the WSBK circus , and stays Europe...... EBR will be more competitive in SUPERSTOCK....even the ill handling Ducati Panigale is competitive is SUPERSTOCK..... I am sure that the EBR will do better than the Ducati... You can definately drive by car to all the SUPERSTOCK WSBK events in Europe ..... So maybe this is a hint that EBR will enter SUPERSTOCK in its first year in WSBK ...... I hope we find out very soon !!!! (Message edited by vagelis46 on October 22, 2013) |

that would make sense in a way, although the Superstock series is only a European championship rather than a world championship. Would EBR really want to run in that, especially as it gets very limited coverage on TV. |

ALL the SUPESTOCK races are on TV, on EUROSPORT, in every WSBK racing weekend...... they get great TV coverage !!! SUPERSTOCK gets the same TV coverage as WSBK and SUPERSPORT .... There are only 2 races in the WSBK calendar that are not in Europe...... Philip Island and Laguna Seca, so there is not much of a difference ..... It is a great opportunity for EBR, in every way , and the EBR will be immidiately competitive in SUPERSTOCK...... SUPERSTOCK is very popular with racing fans, as you know, since fans "relate" to the bikes, that are essentially "showroom" ! (Message edited by vagelis46 on October 22, 2013) |

I know the races are shown on Eurosport, but they are not shown outside Europe, and interest in Superstock is a lot less than Superbike. With the introduction of the EVO rules I can see Superstock being phased out entirely before long as the difference between Superstock and EVO Superbike will be very small. Superstock is probably more popular in mainland Europe than it is here in the UK or would be in the US. Most of the riders are either Italian or French and they seem to take it very seriously. Here in ther UK Superstock is pretty much ignored in favour of Superbike and is seen very much as the poor relation. It has almost no following at all here and nobody even remembers who wins the title as it is just seen as a stepping stone to Superbikes. There is much more interest in Supersport here and the US than in stockers. Unless they make it into a full world championship event then it hasn't got the status to attract new fans in the US, who I think really wouldn't be that interested in a European championship, although I may be wrong. |

Until the EVO rules are applied to all the WSBK teams in 2015 , there is a risk running an EVO Superbike bike against "full" Superbikes in 2014...... there is the chance you get "shafted"....... So maybe it is better to go for SUPERsTOcK IN 2014, and wait until 2015 for EVO WSBK, when all teams must switch to EVO...... I think that SUPERSTOCK has a meaning , even after 2015 , when WSBK turns to EVO..... as a low cost Superbike class, with bikes as close to the "showroom" bikes with OEM chassis, suspension, engine and brakes....... It will be interesting to see what EBR decides to do. I really wish to see EBR racing in the 2014 opener at philip Island , a great track that favours twins ........ I would like to see an EVO WSBK EBR efford..... although SUPESTOCK would be still great ! ! Are carbon discs allowed for the 2014 rules ??? I wonder if the ZTL has been tried with a carbon disc..... I have a feeling that with a carbon disc will be even better , since carbon discs operate at higher temperatures .... So ZTL's only disadvantage, operating at higher temperatures , might proove an advantage with a carbon disc.... We will find out soon ..... EBR joining the WSBK circus , under whatever format or class , is a dream come true for all Buellers ! ! ! I personally cannot wait .... (Message edited by vagelis46 on October 22, 2013) |

I wonder if the ZTL has been tried with a carbon disc.... carbon discs are banned in WSb so that wouldn't be an option. I think they might struggle at some circuits with the ZTL, but then I get into trouble if I discuss brakes on here Suffice to say that there is little wrong with the Brembos that almost everyone else uses. |

I haven't seen anything on weights yet. I'm sure a Ducati delegation will be waiting outside the DORNA offices with their petition to lower weight and remove restrictors form their bikes before winter testing starts though. |

trojan have you riden a buell. the ZLT is a proven technology. it works and is the same as the typical 2 front rotors. |

^ Bill- I think the concisest way to answer that is to say Trojan's company raced Buells in the UK (and elsewhere?) and found that they preferred standard dual disks over the ZTL setup for racing. YMMV |

To be fair.... all the bikes should have no minimum weight , and no restrictors......it is a real shame if a bike has to carry a "balance" weight just to reach the minimum weight required by some stupid rule...... The new chassis & engine rules for 2014 , makes sure that no exotic and very expensive material is used ...... So if a manufacturer, has a great design that saves weight, (e.g. EBR) should not be penalized by having to carry "balance" weights.... Ducati's biggest problem this year was their frameless design..... Maybe it needs more time , or maybe it needs to be replaced with a completely new design.... |

There's something weird about the composition of that CycleNews page. When I tried to view it from my home Linux system, it was completely blank. Didn't matter which of the three browsers I have installed... it always came up blank. Here at the office (on WinXP), it comes up fine with the same browsers that I normally run on Linux. Weird... |

You really don't know me at all do you I have owned every single Xb model + S1 and 2 x S3T, and spent 3 years racing Buell XB's in UK Sound of Thunder/Thunderbike competition from 2003-2006, and . In the end we just put a Yamaha R1 front end on to solve our brake problems. Admittedly that was with ZTL1, but I think I'd still prefer a decent set of radial Brembos any day. |

The new chassis & engine rules for 2014 , makes sure that no exotic and very expensive material is used Not necessarily true unfortunately. Honda are going to build a limited number of RCV based road bikes that will cost in the region of $100,000 each. Because they will have titanium rods etc as stock they can be raced in WSB and even Superstock under the new rules. So long as they are using stock parts they are legal. With the Ducati Superleggera and the Honda RCV they will start a new 'homologation special' war such as we saw in the late 1980's. If that doesn't kill WSB altogether it will seriously damage it, and make pretty much every other bike redundant unless the rule makers do something about it now. |

How many do they have to sell at that price? ........or are they taking Carl Fogarty on as a homologation consultant! |

From what I understand, Ducati isn't making enough Superleggeras to qualify for World Superbikes. Don't you need to sell a total of 3,000 bikes worldwide (1,000 in the first year)? Just checked... Ducati is only making 500 Superleggeras. That's enough to qualify for AMA SBK, but not nearly enough for WSBK. (Message edited by jaimec on October 22, 2013) |

I have a feeling Ducati are offering the Superleggera , in an efford to capitalise in their fading "reputation" that they build the best and more exotic racing bikes....and make money by selling $100,000 bikes to millionares that need to have in their collection the most expensive bike on the market..... The truth is that the Panigale is a piece of shit, that will be replaced soon....... It was a shame that it ended Carlos Chaca's carreer in a bad way ...... with a nasty high speed accident..... By the way...Hello to everyone...it has been a long time since I last posted on the Badweb ....... |

Just checked... Ducati is only making 500 Superleggeras. That's enough to qualify for AMA SBK, but not nearly enough for WSBK. If Honda decide to race their RCV bike in WSb then Ducati could very easily build another 500 Superleggeras if that is what was required. Rumour has already started that Ducati will have the rules amended for next year so that they are allowed to run full race engine internals the same as the 4 cylinder bikes. At the moment Ducati have to use the stock rods and crank on the Panigale, so they are apparently around 30bhp down on the Kawasaki/Aprilia/BMW figures. I don't think all of the Ducatis problems are power rleated though, and in increase in power could just highlight chassis definiencies even more. Any change in rules for Ducati would also apply to EBR though..so every cloud has a silver lining I bet Hero could You would probably find that it is the other way around. Rossi could probably afford to buy Hero (although why he would want to is another matter). |

But Rossi might like to ride and win on a real underdog to put his not so productive Ducati days to bed. Let's not forget. Rossi enjoys a challenge and one of this magnitude in WSBK might just fit the ticket. I might even start a rumour Rocket in England |

I think given Rossi's dire experience at Ducati he is very unlikely to want to even try to develop a new bike into a winner again. If/when he decides he is going to move to WSB it will be on a factory Yamaha thathe is pretty certain he can jump on and be competitive from day one. He wants to win more a lot more than he wants to experience another character building 'challenge' of a new bike & team. |

saldly, if Rossi was to move to SBK, other guys like Bautista, Dovi, Pedrosa , hayden would be in there too, since they can't get a ride or can't win in moto GP. while marquez and Lorenzo are in Moto GP, the rest can only fight for 3rd place |

Yeah, it must be terrible finishing third in a MotoGp race and being 4th in the championship in your first year back on a competitive bike. If I was that bad I'd throw myself under a bus If he is done and needs to retire then there are at least 16 other MotoGP riders who need a new job too, and who muct wish they were performaning as poorly as Rossi is now. You really think that Rossi has a much better bike than Bautista or Crutchlow? The Honda satelite bike is probably as good or better than the current factory Yamaha, while the only advanatge Rossi has over Cal in machinery is the seamless gearbox. Everything else is the same by this stage of the season. The only Yamaha rider on an inferior bike now is Bradley Smith. |
