Whats a good oil to use too that will be ok if it drains into the primary/transmission. It seems like I read a lot of people use the same for both even though its not ideal it might be best in this situation since it will likely bleed into there. |

Sorry for so many questions at once but I have searched long and hard for these answers and you are answering them all clearly all at once so I feel like ive stumbled on a goldmine I truly appreciate your help. I also wondered about the oil pressure gauge on top of my repurposed fire extinguisher oil tank, it always reads zero, what should it be reading? |

When my M2 lost the crankcase seal (twice actually, I installed it wrong the first time) it was painfully obvious because primary (transmission) oil would be blown out the transmission vent. That's the symptom and the problem. If the crankshaft seal is fine, it won't do that. So if that's where the oil is coming out, you know the problem, it is the crankshaft seal, unless something is REALLY wrong with rings or something. |

I get that but simply overfilling the transmission/primary does the same thing right? But are you saying in that case it would likely just spray a bit then stop when it reaches the appropriate level, whereas with the crankcase seal it is constantly filling the transmission/primary so it has endless oil to spray on everything unless the engine oil runs out completely in which case you now have a much larger problem |

Also where could I buy the replacement part? |

^^ Exactly. ^ If you want to order on line, try board sponsor American Sport Bike. Al Lighton is a nice guy and will be glad to help you with info/advice as well. Otherwise, the seals and gaskets you need should be the same as a contemporary Sportster, so you can get them at an HD or Buell/HD dealer. |

Not a picture - but a video from a solo ride on the weekend. The Duffey Lake Road is a locally known favorite road. Certainly in my top 10 of all road rides I've done over the years. Finally resized pic from the prior video link. Anyone passing through Vancouver or Whistler on two wheels should make time for the Duffey Lake Road (aka DLR).
