Spark gap should be .038-.043. .040 is where I set mine. Fuel filter is pretty much a universal, just make sure it's metal not plastic. I believe it's for a 5/16" line. |

Well that explains the rough idle in the mornings I do not know where I got .33 gap from. I'll be tinkering with that today and looking around for a fuel filter too. |

You'll probably find one at your local auto parts store hanging on a peg. Since there is no fuel return, and all the fuel that passes through the filter is delivered through the injectors, the flow rating is not really relevant. Just about anything will work. Heck, the original filter was plastic. |

Mine had a metal one on it when I bought it. Thought I'd try the see thru plastic so I could tell if it's getting bad but the pump psi blew it apart. |

You should run about 50 psi. |

Oc is correct. Napa 3032 is what I use. Just rotate in the clamp until the lettering doesn't show. |

IIRC, that is how it was secured to the clamp. |

I bought a chrome one from Jegs just because you can see it and it matches the rest of my shiny bits. |

I have been using a billet aluminum fuel filter for about 5 yrs now. It is serviceable. |

It is the stock filter. The stock method of clamping the hoses is the non-screw type of clamp that you need to cut to remove. You only need to remove one to take the tank off the bike. So I guess your previous owner flipped a coin and chose the other side to cut Now that you mention it, perhaps I should replace my filter too. I bet it's full of leaves and spiders and birds after all these miles. |

Stupid question but I don't have to remove the tank to replace the fuel filter do I?? |

No, just the air scoop. |

If you start the bike and unplug the wire heading to the tank then let it run til the engine stops, that will remove the pressure from the line so you don't get a face full. |

Or you can just use the pressure relief valve and avoid starving the injectors. |

The book says to do it the way I just wrote. Also, remember the new filter will be dry for a short amount of time. I don't think the injectors are that easily damaged. |
