I just picked up a rock in my belt today. Good thing I was planning on changing it and had a new one around. I installed it and it seems to be on the tight side, like pluck it like a guitar string tight. I checked the part number and I have a G0500.1AMG which is the current number for an R. Is this normal? Do they stretch out some?
Thanks

Thanks Joe, just wanted to make sure I wasn't going to start eating wheel bearings or worse final drive bearings.

They new ones are really tight. You probably will wear out a wheel bearing or two on the drive side. That's pretty normal, too.

Hey Will, if you didn't ride like a hooligan around all those Harleys, maybe it wouldn't have happened! Lol

Just give it some time to stretch a little.

It was fun riding with you. Maybe next time I'll be able to keep up... Hahahaha

The 1125 belts are very very tight but I don't believe that the belts do stretch because if they did the pitch would no longer fit the pulley profile, I think the only reason a used belt appears not quite as tight is because they tend to soften slightly and bed in to the pulley tooth profile.

They stretch. Trust me, they stretch.

1/4" stretch (or even 1"...excessive, but for this exercise we'll go with it...)

1" stretch over 144 teeth = 1/144" per tooth. Still well within spec.

Yes, they stretch. Do a search on the Uly board about "spare belt" - many Uly riders, myself included, have a used belt packed on the bike for roadside replacement should a belt break. Why a used belt, you ask? Because it's already stretched, and it is easier to fit on the side of the road with hand tools.

David, haha I couldn't help it. They just took the fun out of the curves. Maybe we can meet somewhere in between and ride. Palomar?

Palomar sounds awesome. Shoot me a PM and we'll work out the when. I'm off for the next two weeks, so that might work out perfectly! Just let me know!
