I've got a few drops of redline gear oil coming out of the primary. The weird thing is it drips forward of the muffler. It is like it is riding up my clutch cable and dripping out of the boot. Any ideas? Did I overfill or do I need to fix something? |

Check the vent tube for the transmission. I have seen bugs stop them up and that will force fluid out the cable, trying to vent that way. |

My Cyclone just did that - it was a blocked vent tube. Pressure has to go somewhere - the clutch cable adjuster is one of the weakest links, so it goes out there. |

My question is rather Redline gear oil is ok for your primary. I love Redline gear oil in my Harley but the stators in the primary don't react well with gear lube. Even Amsoil does not recommend there gear oil in the XB's because of the stator issue. Has Redline approved their oil in the primary? Just hate to see you have to replace the stator. |

Too late Total, I already replaced my stator once and it was after I started using redline. However I found grounds on the back of the stator where it contacted the divider plate so I don't blame redline. I'll take a look at the vent line. That make sense as it only leaks after a ride. |

It is what Ratbuell says. It is just me but I stick to HD OEM in the primary. The primary oil not only lubes the chain etc also cools the stator. I see no reason to use anything else. |

Looks like blowing out the vent line fixed it. No more drops. Thanks for the help. |

I have used the Harley OEM primary oil. Now that I am nervous about the stator, I may switch back to it. I just hate how the bike shifts with the Harley oil. It is like night and day with the redline. |

I've been using 60wt. Amsoil engine oil and it does real well. The heavier oil in the tranny just makes me feel better. |
