That is the deposit. The whole thing is close to $3K. I'd love to have one, but that's just too much.... |

Thinks are not looking so rosy in coating land. It doesn't appear as if Joe at KG Industries has touched my tank so I've asked for it back. I'll have to do it myself with an epoxy primer which is what I should have done in the first place. |

I've had the same issues, now I cant seem to get any words or return calls from the company that has my tank, its been about 8 months since I sent to them and its gone from bad return calls to no return calls...guess my next call is the BBB.... |

That wouldn't happen to be a place in NY State, would it? I told him low temperature, he put it his low temperature line where it hits 525, the hook ripped right through it and it turned into a blob. |

If it is a place in nys depending on where it is feel free to give me a address and I will go there in person and raise hell if necessary(I live In nys). Sometimes a person to person confrontation gets the gears moving more then a phone call. |

http://www.techlinecoatingswebstore.com/product.cg i?group=2241&product=2529 Check this company it seems that you can do plastic and it is fuel proof after cure. Video I saw they used a heat gun very carefully a bit at a time to cure the coating on plastic. |

I used Tech Line's CermaCoat (I think it was) when I had a coatings business, I'm going to have to take a look at what they offer. My tank is coming back from KG Industries and it looks like they had it since July and didn't do anything other than shoot me a few emails. At least I'll be right back where I started! |

Guy here in France is making large & small tanks in polyester, apparently the quality & finish are very good. I can find out more if interested. |

Is the polyester colored? |

Primer gray I think. Here's the threads from the French Buell forum. http://buell.actifforum.com/t35211-challenge-reser voir-mantas-polyester?highlight=peinture+reservoir http://buell.actifforum.com/t33088-tub-reservoir-1 3-litres-refabrication-par-cr-750 €700 for the small tank don't know for the Manta. The guy's not that far from me either. |

conversion rate? isn't this the same problem we currently have? are these a superior material to the ones that are venting and destroying paint or is this just a reproduction, same material = same problem but at least you're starting with a new tank? or is the material different and it will hold up to the fuel venting problem? |

Looks like $935 before shipping and I'd think the outgassing would do the same thing. Mr. Grumpy, Could you ask about his experiences with paint on this product? |

That's $935 before shipping & import duty & sales tax on the shipping & the duty & the tank. I don't know enough about the products to tell you much more about the outgassing. From what's posted in the forum the product he's using has no problems with bubbling & paints well. If a few people are seriously interested I'll get in touch with the fella & we'll see what can be done. (Message edited by Mr_grumpy on September 25, 2013) |

I'm still hoping to pursue a coating here in the US but it's going rather slowly. There's a bubbled manta tank on eBay I'm going to try and snag. KG Industries has yet to return my original which isn't making me very happy. For $935 plus the rest I'd go with an alloy tank from England. |

Steveford, sure glad you said something, I was watching that tank as well, was going to try and buy it on the very cheap for exactly the same reason...donate yet more time and energy into a solution....would have ben a waste to be bidding against you with the same end goal planned. once I saw your note I backed out..glad you said something! |

Good, let's not get in a bidding war! I'm giving it one more week and then will bug KG some more about getting my tank back. I missed the entire season due those guys putting my tank on a shelf so I'm not too pleased. |

I Have a severely bubbled manta tank from a 1998 (not fuel injected) S3 I will donate to your experiment if you will pay shipping from 32579. No fuel cap or ring included. It has aftermarket paint and I challenge anyone to find one where the paint is more of a mess. e-mail me if you would like me to send it your way. |

PM sent, that will be great! My gas tank is being returned by KG Industries but I don't think they touched it SOOOO I'll try an epoxy primer on one and that liquid/powder combo on the other. The moral of the story is if you want something done you'd better do it yourself! |

glad to see someone is still carrying the torch. I had the exact same issue with the folks I was working with for low tem powder-coating, now they have completely stopped returning phone calls and I may never get the tank back! I f I do, I will donate that one to your cause if you need a third! I have no idea what kind of condition its in as they did some paint removal, tried several strippers (no not that kind.... )and who knows what else.... I've kind of given up on the cause of even getting it back, but if you want a third, I will re-invigorate my efforts! |

If you can get it back I'll try a third sealant although I'm not quite sure what it will be. Once they're done I will need some volunteers to use the tanks so they're not just sitting around full of gas in my garage. We might as well put them to use. |

if it's the orange bubbled up manta I suppose I'll just keep my bids to myself...my S1W's tank is a mess and was going to pick up a spare to paint so it wasn't down very long. |

My post didn't take. BID AWAY!!! My original tank is on it's way back and I'm also getting a tank from Steveray so I'll have two donor units to experiment with. I'll get it if it kills me (famous last words)... Remind me not to smoke and use a paint gun at the same time, ha, ha. |

I got my tank back and after 3 months, KG Industries did... nothing. I was kind of hoping that they would surprise me and shoot it with this "resin that we have that we think might work" but nope. Time to do what I should have done and do the coating myself. |

This hasn't been forgotten, today was spent stripping paint which is always fun. I think plastic blasting media is what is going to be needed to get these things totally stripped down. Days like today make me wish I still owned that powder coating shop, these tanks would have been done in no time. |

I had to turn my case over to the BBB, the guys quit responding to my phone calls and emails, I even called and left a message that I would have to take a different course of action if they didn't respond...didn't want to hurt them, just wanted my tank back....no response..so its now a case for the BBB.. Once I get it back I can mail it off to you for another test, if they didn't trash it! |
