Hi Guys long time no see here! I've been busy riding my X1M, I just got it back on the road after replacing lots of stuff on it. I bought the American torque puke can and small filter and had it installed. I'm not happy with it at all. The oil is being blown out through the small filter. It seems after 2 tanks of gas its pretty bad. So other than the force winder with the cone filter, what are some other options for this type of air intake? |

There should be a drain on the bottom of the can, use it more often maybe? Sounds like a lot of oil bypass. |

Thanks Arizona the drain is on one end of the can. How it was installed left the air filter at the very end. So first time draining it there was hardly anything in the can itself, more in the filter. Pain in the butt to drain it. I had to remove the clamps to tilt it then washed out the filter. So the thing is mounted on the passenger foot peg mount of the X1. The oil was blowing thru the filter down onto the belt guard. I'm not happy. My mind is going to; ripping it off along with the stock air box and filter and replacing it with something that requires less maintenance. Less tinkering more riding no dirty fingernails lol |

Just got my X1 back together with a new air filter system. Right now, the breather bolts are bare, and hardly any stuff is coming out. Ordering something today, thanks for the reminder. |

http://www.ebay.com/itm/BUELL-MOTORCYCLE-HARLEY-CA TCH-CAN-W-BREATHER-X1-S1-XB-M2-S3-OIL-COLLECTOR-/2 71262455772?pt=Motorcycles_Parts_Accessories&hash= item3f288097dc&vxp=mtr This is what my set up looks like. I put the can on the left side near the engine on the frame with the old mount for the fuel filter. Drain is on the bottom , I ran a hose off of that and zip tied that to the oil tank drain . I use a different inline fuel filter . |

I gave up on puke cans. I drilled a hole into the base of the plastic underseat cover and ran the oil line into a plastic water bottle which lives underneath the seat. Punched a hole into the top of the bottle, stuffed a sponge in there and then covered it up with a genuine pre-used tube sock from Wally World. That works really well and the price is certainly right. |

Steve: Please specify the size of tube sock, and does it have two red bands around the calf area? |

I went the cheap route, one size Men's Fitzall, no bands but I did customize it by wearing a vent hole in the heel area. I don't want to stir up the whole Washed versus Unwashed controversy but I did wash and dry mine prior to installation which I think works better. YMMV. |

I will try to get a pic later today. I have my head vents and I also teed into the top of my oil tank where the crank case vent goes in and ran that as well as the trans vent. All into the can. And no I didn't ask anyone if I could do it that way. :-) |

I guess that depends on what you are calling the "engine drain" There is an oil tank drain that is the only drain. There are vent lines one from the transmission and a case vent line that runs to the top of the oil tank then you have head vents that run into stock air box . |

Transmission vent hose runs up there, might be that, topped with a filter? Shouldn't be anything coming out of that one. |
