I didn't see any kind of animals. Was it the seam in the track? Or did you get rear-ended like Luis? |

You have to have a secondary attachment to race with one. It just hung around the rest of the race. |

Josh -I was going over to my parents' house for dinner on Wednesday, otherwise I probably would not have seen you, but it is a good looking bike...I was in my car, so it isnt quite as exciting. CJ-still having a hard time on the job front? Have you ever looked into staffing agencies in PA? I have an appointment with 2 of them in Dallas on Monday and Tuesday. Just an idea. Bart- You still alive? Havent heard much of you lately. |

Sorry, I've been pretty busy riding... I rode with Chris, (Sparky) a few weeks ago, and he mentioned that I hadn't posted any pics of my Colorado rides, so here goes... In June, I rode up to Ouray, to attend a Yamaha Tenere rally. There ended up being over 100 bikes there. pretty awesome. I met up with a guy from Tennessee in Cortez, and we rode the COBDR up to Telluride, and then up over Ophir Pass, and down to Ouray. First section of the BDR
The first 5 miles were kind of sandy, and loose, but it firmed up as we climbed up onto the mesa, and the views were awesome
We got to Telluride, and then headed up and over Ophir Pass. I had no problems here last year, but this year, I was fully loaded first I hammered my skid plate, broke two mounts, and had to make roadside repairs before continuing up
then I hit a rock, which bounced me up, and put me off camber, I dabbed a foot, but stepped into a hole...
Dented the saddlebag right on my EBR sticker >:-( Luckily, mark was there to help me pick it up, I rode up to the next switchback, and then came back down to help him through that section. he fell also The next day, we rode pavement, we went up 92 from the blue mesa reservoir
Then over the Grand Mesa
Back down, and over McClure pass, Ran into this cattle drive outside of Crawford:
then Independence pass,
through Leadville, over Monarch pass, past blue mesa reservoir, then up over Owl Creek pass, and back to Ouray. a 540 mile day The third day, we went up over the Alpine Loop. Ive been over this on the Tenere last year, and it was once again a blast. We went up to Animas Forks, then over Cinnamon Pass
Down into Lake City for lunch, then up over Engineers pass
A great day of riding to say the least. When we got back to the campground, it was beer thirty
That night they got all the bikes together for a group picture.
yea, that's a lot of tenere's The next day, we rode up Last Dollar RD to Tellurdie, and had lunch, then tackled Ophir one last time, unloaded
No issues this time, when we got back, a cool down with a few cold ones was in order We sat in the Animas river for a few...
The sky was overcast, not with rain clouds, but smoke from the many fires burning in Colorado at the time
I headed back the next day. I had a great time, and met some great people. I think next year we will meet in Arkansas |

Two weeks ago, I attended an RMAR rally in Silverton. I had attended last year on my DRZ400, which I just sold to kim. I now have a DR650 that I've modified a bit. Some call it the Frankenbike. anyway,I rode over many of the same roads and passes I had just taken the Tenere over the previous month, so it was much easier on a lighter bike with great suspension. Animas forks:
Engineers passes
Hurricane and California passes
these guys up at the top were yelling down to me, I wasn't going to ride the spine up there, they were on KTM 250's
As high as I wanted to go on Hurricane My Mighty DR650, Racetech rear shock mod, YZF450 front end, open airbox, and FMF full exhaust. it makes me grin
The order of the day
The last day I rode Ophir pass, and Last Dollar road with kim. She fell the same place I had on the Tenere the month earlier :-p Then almost ran me over after I picked up her bike >:-( Here is a shot of the bottom, looks docile enough
Mine ruins along Corkscrew Pass
We wont talk about how many times Kim fell on that pass river crossing on the Animas River
Another good time, playing in the back country of Colorado. I'm not sure if I'm going to make the Buell rally, since I would be riding the road between Taos and Pagosa to get to Pagosa. Seems kind of redundant to me. Instead, I will probably loop up through Lake City, across to Montrose, down the Million dollar HWY, and back to Pagosa on Saturday, then head back on Sunday. If I go, I will see y'all on Friday. If not, have a great time! |

Bart, Looks fun. I've done Engineer Pass on a quad before, but never on a bike. I see you have been busy though! I spent this last weekend and a couple days of this week in Dallas... partly for fun, partly job searching. I had a job interview on Tuesday, and I think it went pretty well. I'll have another with a different company this next week by phone, and if they like me, they will ask for an in person one. All in all, a tiring last couple of days, but I think I am starting out strong with the job hunt. now if I can get time to go riding I'd be really happy |

From Dave, regarding Southwest Buell Rally: -------------------------------------------- Hello All, my computer has been giving me fits, so I`m trying this old way,,,( this is the 3rd time I`m writing this) PLEASE pass this around as this is an old list- I`m sure there are some people NOT ON THIS LIST. Here`s the basic plan, We`ll meet up at Rocky Mtn HD/Buell at about 8:00am, full of fuel and kickstands up at 8:30. We`ll then head south on Hwy 285 toward Fairplay for a gas stop/break. from there we`ll head to Salida for lunch and meet up with Jeff and a new guy from the Springs. ( my apologies- I can`t remember the new dudes name - hope to buy him a beer in Pagosa After lunch and gas up, we`ll again head south on Hwy 285 to Center CO, were we`ll turn west on Hwy 112. We`ll head west on Hwy 112 to Del Norte where we`ll again turn west onto Hwy 160 and head west to South Fork CO. At SouthFork we`ll gas up again and then it`s over Wolf Creek Pass to Pagosa Springs- watch for that pesky trooper on the pass- The Resort is on the Southside of the road as we enter Pagosa Springs. Plans for Fri night- a good soak-dinner-story telling- Pretty demanding schedule , really,, Plans for Saturday, sneak in a good soak- head out at about 10:00ish, here`s why- We need to meet Nick and his wife in Chama NM for lunch, should be a easy ride. After lunch, we`ll ride out to Hwy 64 and onto Taos NM. We`ll take a break/photo op at the Taos Gorge Bridge, always a neat place for a break,, Sat night plans - more relaxing - dinner - story telling - good times with good people - this shit never gets old,, Plans for Sunday, Pretty much head for home, we`ll probably head up NM 522 to Fort Garland Co,, then make a decision to either go back up 285 or go east- over La Veta Pass and a east side run up to Denver. We`ll decide when we get there. That`s all I got,, remember pass this around so we can let everyone interested know,, Thanks! Ride Safe My Friends, Dave |

That's pretty much a Denver group plan, which is just fine, but we can split into different groups for the Saturday ride. |

She fell the same place I had on the Tenere the month earlier :-p Then almost ran me over after I picked up her bike >:-( Here is a shot of the bottom, looks docile enough I don't know what you are talking about??? I didn't try to run you over. You were walking down the wrong side of the trail and just happened to be where I needed to go so you didn't have to help me pick it up again. Have I told ya how much I love that DRZ? For the record I did great over Cinnamon and Engineer Passes. I only started to fall once we hit Hurricane and the Corkscrew. Which were really tricky. It looked like this....

Looking forward to SW Buell rally this weekend. I plan on leaving Tucson between 06-0700. Bike is almost ready, beadrider on the seat, seems to make a real difference in the heat/ventilation, we will see about comfort. Waiting on the EBR ECM then TPS reset and away we go. See you this weekend! |

Hey Art, Believe it or not, the beads work. I road my CR from just north of Philly out to Ocean Shores, New Jersey then home to south Denver in 2 and 1/2 days. 2140 miles all on the beads and the little CR seat. I don't know if I could have made it home that quick without the beads. YMMV. We'll see you in Pagosa Springs Friday? Bob |

SEE!! When I put the beads on the Uly, everyone gave me shit. I used them for my Iron Butt ride and all last summer on my 15K mile trip. It does create a nice space between your butt and the seat, which is frequently overheating thanks to the rear cylinder. Bob, when were you in Philly? I've been here since April and my dad lives in Ocean City, NJ so I'm down there all the time. Would have been nice to meet up for a ride. Have fun this weekend. The 2nd year in a row I'm not there! Ride Safe!! Cheers! |

Hey CJ, It's been too long since we've seen you. We all miss seeing you. I would have called you when I bought the CR but you weren't back there yet. I made that trip in June of '12. I'm sure we'll talk about you this weekend, so let me know if your ears are burning. Take care, be safe. Good luck in the search, Bob |

Joined the SW Buell Rally @ Chama, NM on Saturday. Great ride through US 64 until we hit a wall of water and thunderstorms on the way to Taos. Great company, ceegars, and refreshments at the Sagebrush. Good to see all the CO riders again... only two NM riders on the trip. Came back on the high road... oh what fun it is to ride the ol' 1125. SOUTHWEST BUELL RALLY RIDE REPORT I will post this in the AZ and NM areas also. This is my personal ride report, I left Tucson Friday morning around 0700. I got to Globe for coffee, gas and a honey bun. While there I ran into several GSXR, Ninja and BMW K riders in full gear going to Salt river canyon. I left before them and they past me as I stooped to take a picture. I rode through Pinetop and after a wrong turn went through to Holbrook. The wrong turn cost me about an hour. Just missed rain in Holbrook and decided to go into Gallup for late lunch. I left Gallup and headed up to Farmington on 491, turned right on BIA-5 over to 371 up to Farmington, bypassing Shiprock. Then the 516 to 550 north into Colorado. The 160 over to Pagosa Springs. All told over 600 miles and about 12 hours. It is really amazing to see the change in geography from New Mexico into Colorado, very dramatic. I was the last to arrive and a thank you to all who waited at Tequilas for me and ate late. In Pagosa, Jody, Doug and I stayed at a cabin at the San Juan Motel. We checked in after dinner, walked to the liquor store for beer and sat on the porch smoking cigars and telling lies, watching it rain off and on as well as watching to moon peek out of the clouds. A very relaxing evening. The next day, after breakfast, we all met up and rode to Chama for lunch. At Chama we were met by Nick, a few of us went to ride the curvy part of 17 but Jody and I turned back early as they were in the process of chip sealing the road and there was loose gravel all over the road. After lunch we headed out on 64 through the mountains. I left my kickstand down, no sidestand switch evidently, and when I tried to take the first left had sweeper at about 70-80 got my "oh shit"! moment as the stand levered my rear wheel off the pavement. Nick had tried to tell me but I misunderstood his hand signal as "pass me". The rest of the ride went well, Jody and I were riding together when we rode into a sudden rain storm. I was as if a rolling wall of water was coming right at us, with wind whipped water flying across the road. We slowed down but kept going as we were already wet and Jody forgot his rain gear anyway. We got to the 285 intersection fairly dry and waited for the rest to arrive. Jim showed up and said that Doug had mechanical issues after the rain, just sputtered and died, fuel pump? Any way, the rest of the group rode into Taos, then someone drove Doug's Explorer back to his bike, luckily he had transported his xb to Taos on Friday then rode the rest of the way to Pagosa. They arrived for dinner at about 1900. We were staying at the Sagebrush, others at the Comfort Inn next door. Another night in the patio at the Sagebrush, same song, second verse. Cigars, beer and stories. I was nodding off around 2300 and headed to bed. Sunday was breakfast at the Sagebrush then gather everyone up to leave for home around 0900. I got on the road around 0930 and ran I25 to Hatch over to I10 to Tucson. Another 600+ mile day. Only rain in one place around an hour from home. I had a great time with all as usual and hope to see everyone in May at the 10th anniversary of Springfast! The participants this year; Dave and Denise on a S3T, Bob and Diane on a 1125CR, Ken and Cheryl on his XR1200 with trailer for the dogs, her on a CB1100. Nick on his 1125R, Jody on his 1125CR, Doug on his XB12R, mechanical DNF, Jim on his ULY, all the way from Nebraska! Me on my XB12Scg. I hope I didn't get any of the names wrong, forgive my memory lapse. Pix to follow if I can figure out how to fit them. |
