Jody, we were actually thinking about you when we picked up this bike. You would love it. Dan's been looking at all kinds of off road routes that we will b doing this year, places one can't take the Buells. And theres lots of roads out your way. And John, be ready for lots of riding. If we can't sell the RV we might have to put it back on the road LOL. |

Dan and I got out for a 100 mile ride today on the new dual sports. Went to Deckers and back the "short" way. Plenty of gravel roads and some covered with snow/ice. The bikes did great (and so did we ) Can't wait for warmer weather!!!!! |

Hello All, Time to start planning rides. Dave and I put our heads together and came up with dates for a Lake City weekend. 18 and 19 May. I reserved 6 rooms for the night of the 18th at the Alpine Moose. Three single kings and three double queens. Prices are $80 and $99 respectively. Call Bruno to reserve yours: (800) 650-1221 or (970) 944-2415 It is always a great ride down and back. Bruno is a fantastic chef and the meals at the motel restaurant are always great. Let's see if we can have a good turnout for this first gathering of the year. Cheers, Bob |

Change of plans! Julie and I are going to be doing the Lake City ride instead of Springfast. Since there was no Lake City ride last year and the year before we had to do it in a cage due to injury, Julie and I dumped our whole Arizona vacation to do Lake City! Can't wait to see you all again! Jeff |

Hello All, I was watching the news last night,, Hwy 160 is open again and people are allowed to return to their homes in Southfork. Lets do this!! -August 23-24-25. I just made my reservations for the resort at Pagosa Springs for Fri night, and the Sagebrush Inn in Taos for Sat night. Neither Bob or I have ever ridden the route between Pagosa and Taos, Our buddy Murrae says it`s pretty nice, so it should be a real fun day. Both reservation desks say they have plenty of rooms available, but make your reservations soon-just in case,,, I`ll do a ride route and schedule thingy soon, but for now- lets get set up and look forward to getting our chili fixes! Talk with you soon, & Ride Safe! Ah yes Jody, it was great seeing you. And Mo Mo's is a great restaurant. Must go back there soon. There's some beautiful back country riding down your way. Have to come back to do some more exploring. Those dirt bikes are sooooo much fun. Have been putting more miles on the dirt bikes than the Buells so far this year. Planning on a ride tomorrow up to Estes Park for a nice Buell ride. Then off to the Western slope for a week of both dirt and Buell riding soon. Can't wait. Be safe and again, it was great seeing you Jody. |

Almost ready, rooms booked, XB with new front Q2, brake pads, oil changed. New 5-0dro axle and case sliders. Only other possible change, should I buy the EBR ecm or have my race ecm dyno tuned locally. Getting a lot of pinging/detonation when hot. And its hot a lot in Tucson. |

Hi Local Buellers - Bonneville is just around the corner and the shop is getting hectic. I'm almost done with Cil's S&S heads for this year's run on the record. We'll start running and de-bugging this week. Good preparation is paramount. Last year we had NO breakdowns, Dan didn't even change plugs all week! But Cil's best run(160) was 2mph under the record(162). Bubba ran his full faired in an open class and set the record at 150mph. He never hit the Nitrous. Wish us luck, I'll update. Zack |

You know I want to go bad. First I need a Marchesini front wheel. Loretta's front wheel is NOT built for speed. Too much work for me to go. Somebody's got to keep an eye on the place, right? Z |

Dan and I are back from our Western slope trip. Did the usual rides on the Buells up 92 to Hotchkiss then thru Cedaredge up the Grand Mesa to Vega reservoir. Also did the trip to Gateway from Ridgeway and over Norwood Hill. Gateway has really changed, not biker friendly any more. Won't stop there again any time soon but the ride is great. Did a lot of off road rides on the dual sports. Saw lots of really beautiful sites. Heading to Buena Vista for a 3 day weekend to ride the dirt trails out there. Have fun everyone that's going on the Southwest Rally. |

From Dave, regarding Southwest Buell Rally: -------------------------------------------- Hello All, my computer has been giving me fits, so I`m trying this old way,,,( this is the 3rd time I`m writing this) PLEASE pass this around as this is an old list- I`m sure there are some people NOT ON THIS LIST. Here`s the basic plan, We`ll meet up at Rocky Mtn HD/Buell at about 8:00am, full of fuel and kickstands up at 8:30. We`ll then head south on Hwy 285 toward Fairplay for a gas stop/break. from there we`ll head to Salida for lunch and meet up with Jeff and a new guy from the Springs. ( my apologies- I can`t remember the new dudes name - hope to buy him a beer in Pagosa After lunch and gas up, we`ll again head south on Hwy 285 to Center CO, were we`ll turn west on Hwy 112. We`ll head west on Hwy 112 to Del Norte where we`ll again turn west onto Hwy 160 and head west to South Fork CO. At SouthFork we`ll gas up again and then it`s over Wolf Creek Pass to Pagosa Springs- watch for that pesky trooper on the pass- The Resort is on the Southside of the road as we enter Pagosa Springs. Plans for Fri night- a good soak-dinner-story telling- Pretty demanding schedule , really,, Plans for Saturday, sneak in a good soak- head out at about 10:00ish, here`s why- We need to meet Nick and his wife in Chama NM for lunch, should be a easy ride. After lunch, we`ll ride out to Hwy 64 and onto Taos NM. We`ll take a break/photo op at the Taos Gorge Bridge, always a neat place for a break,, Sat night plans - more relaxing - dinner - story telling - good times with good people - this shit never gets old,, Plans for Sunday, Pretty much head for home, we`ll probably head up NM 522 to Fort Garland Co,, then make a decision to either go back up 285 or go east- over La Veta Pass and a east side run up to Denver. We`ll decide when we get there. That`s all I got,, remember pass this around so we can let everyone interested know,, Thanks! Ride Safe My Friends, Dave |

Looking forward to SW Buell rally this weekend. I plan on leaving Tucson between 06-0700. Bike is almost ready, beadrider on the seat, seems to make a real difference in the heat/ventilation, we will see about comfort. Waiting on the EBR ECM then TPS reset and away we go. See you this weekend! |

SOUTHWEST BUELL RALLY RIDE REPORT I will post this in the AZ and NM areas also. This is my personal ride report, I left Tucson Friday morning around 0700. I got to Globe for coffee, gas and a honey bun. While there I ran into several GSXR, Ninja and BMW K riders in full gear going to Salt river canyon. I left before them and they past me as I stooped to take a picture. I rode through Pinetop and after a wrong turn went through to Holbrook. The wrong turn cost me about an hour. Just missed rain in Holbrook and decided to go into Gallup for late lunch. I left Gallup and headed up to Farmington on 491, turned right on BIA-5 over to 371 up to Farmington, bypassing Shiprock. Then the 516 to 550 north into Colorado. The 160 over to Pagosa Springs. All told over 600 miles and about 12 hours. It is really amazing to see the change in geography from New Mexico into Colorado, very dramatic. I was the last to arrive and a thank you to all who waited at Tequilas for me and ate late. In Pagosa, Jody, Doug and I stayed at a cabin at the San Juan Motel. We checked in after dinner, walked to the liquor store for beer and sat on the porch smoking cigars and telling lies, watching it rain off and on as well as watching to moon peek out of the clouds. A very relaxing evening. The next day, after breakfast, we all met up and rode to Chama for lunch. At Chama we were met by Nick, a few of us went to ride the curvy part of 17 but Jody and I turned back early as they were in the process of chip sealing the road and there was loose gravel all over the road. After lunch we headed out on 64 through the mountains. I left my kickstand down, no sidestand switch evidently, and when I tried to take the first left had sweeper at about 70-80 got my "oh shit"! moment as the stand levered my rear wheel off the pavement. Nick had tried to tell me but I misunderstood his hand signal as "pass me". The rest of the ride went well, Jody and I were riding together when we rode into a sudden rain storm. I was as if a rolling wall of water was coming right at us, with wind whipped water flying across the road. We slowed down but kept going as we were already wet and Jody forgot his rain gear anyway. We got to the 285 intersection fairly dry and waited for the rest to arrive. Jim showed up and said that Doug had mechanical issues after the rain, just sputtered and died, fuel pump? Any way, the rest of the group rode into Taos, then someone drove Doug's Explorer back to his bike, luckily he had transported his xb to Taos on Friday then rode the rest of the way to Pagosa. They arrived for dinner at about 1900. We were staying at the Sagebrush, others at the Comfort Inn next door. Another night in the patio at the Sagebrush, same song, second verse. Cigars, beer and stories. I was nodding off around 2300 and headed to bed. Sunday was breakfast at the Sagebrush then gather everyone up to leave for home around 0900. I got on the road around 0930 and ran I25 to Hatch over to I10 to Tucson. Another 600+ mile day. Only rain in one place around an hour from home. I had a great time with all as usual and hope to see everyone in May at the 10th anniversary of Springfast! The participants this year; Dave and Denise on a S3T, Bob and Diane on a 1125CR, Ken and Cheryl on his XR1200 with trailer for the dogs, her on a CB1100. Nick on his 1125R, Jody on his 1125CR, Doug on his XB12R, mechanical DNF, Jim on his ULY, all the way from Nebraska! Me on my XB12Scg. I hope I didn't get any of the names wrong, forgive my memory lapse. Pix to follow if I can figure out how to fit them. |

Wow... sounds like a good time. Of course, it ALWAYS rains for that ride. I rode from Langhorne to Gettysburg on Saturday and visited the National Military Park as well as the Eisenhower NHS. I took a good bunch of photos too. None uploaded yet. It was not so many miles as Tucson to Colorado, but it was a fun ride. I think I got about 300 miles or so for the day. Glad you guys had an nice time. Too bad you didn't get any more riders. |

Greetings from Nebraska, It was great seeing everybody thank you Dave for everything. It was great meeing Al and Ken & Cheryl for the first time. Doug bummer for the problem with your XB12R and thank you for the good deal on the tour seat, that will help make my CR a better ride. Nick good seeing you again, Bob was kind enough to show me his new CR conversion to Tour bike, Bob did the job right and it looks great, thanks Bob for the insight. Sunday After the group left the Sagebrush Inn I finally got myself gathered up and started the 739 mile trek back to Columbus, Nebraska. Spotted Dave & Denise, Bob & Diane, Jody having lunch as I rode through Walsenburg. I had a good ride all the way home, a little hot 95 to 98 F however I had a nice tail wind to boost me on my way, I got home at 11:00 PM 12.5 hours in the saddle. I really made use of my fuel bladder on this trip home 225 to 250 miles between stops. I really had a great time and thank you everybody for putting up with me, plan on seeing you all again next year. |
