Ok here is a question that I need some help on. I found a company that makes a stiffer spring for the rear of the XB. They are saying that if you are over 180 pd + that you are to heavy for the rear shock and you need to get a stiffer spring. Now I am 225pds without gear so I am guessing around 240 with everything. I have the settings on 6 so at the limit of the spring already. Do I need to get a stiffer spring or am I wasting money on it?

Same as you. Still running the stock spring. With the new Metzler Sportec M1s I went down to five in the rear and the bike is still plenty quick into turns for me.

Me too, probably 215 with gear. Maybe Marcus McBain could give us his thoughts?

Yeah me either. I love the bike the way it is but one must remember that the only other street bike I've been on was an '82 CB750F-SS so I can only assume that I have no idea what a bike feels like when it's REALLY handling well.

The rear XB seems to work OK if you are under 175lbs. With that said, the problem with the rear of the XB series is not the shock itself, BUT the lack of any ride height adjustment. Without being able to raise the rear ride height, you are just compromising. The hard part is that I sell the Penske double adjustable for 899.00 and for most that is a hard sell to the budget/wife. : D The results of getting this shock are incredible though.

Luckily come June/July I'll have a decent budget and I have no wife... I need to kick in a good deal of said budget towards the lien payment but I'll be able to buy a few toys at that point.

Do you think the spring is a good idea for 215lbs rider/gear?

It seems to me also that the bike dives quickly on the brakes, maybe heavier spring up there too. As I said though, I have no idea what the bike is supposed to feel like so I'll just have to bring it to you. If everything goes like it should, I may be able to see you later in the season in Colorado.

In regards to the spring...YES, a 215lbs. rider could benefit from a stiffer spring. I keep them in stock, so let me know...
