Either that, or maybe somebody wanted to negate much of EBR's cornering advantage Hugh I really hope that isn't the case, BUT does anyone know what tires EBR is using on the 1190 street bikes? If it isn't a Dunlop then Dunlop may have decided to build tires for there real customers and not some upstart from Wisconsin that is going to put Pirellis on there bikes. |

Yea, I don't really believe anyone's conspiring against EBR. OTOH, I can imagine all the teams running inline 4's have more influence over how Dunlop builds a tire than the 3 V-Twin teams. What's best for one is likely not optimum for the other. |

None of the teams have much influence over a control tyre (that is the entire point of a control tyre!). Teams get to test pre season and if the tyre is dangerous they obvioulsy have the right to make suggestions or comments to the manufacturer, but in general they race what they are given. Some teams in WSB suffered when Pirelli changed their tyre compound, but it is up to the teams to make their bike work with the tyre they are given. |

Someone once said "if you want to know the truth, follow the money". I think Dunlop is making a tire for what they can get the most sales from, i.e., what most of the racing bikes are using will sell more tires as more of the teams are running foreign bikes and those are what the majority of race enthusiasts have. More YamaKawZukies running Dunlops equals more of those tire sales worldwide and if they work on race bikes they MUST (sarcasm) work on my street bike too. |

I wouldn't go looking for conspiracy theories whre they don't exist. If Dunlop wanted to give better tyres to leading teams then they are in the wrong series. A control tyre is the same for everyone. It is up to the team to get their bike to work with the tyre they are supplied with. Occasionally in control tyre series a rider will get a 'duff' tyre or one that doesn't perform as it should, but these are very rare and the tyre companies police the quality stringently. It is more than their reputation is worth if they are seen to be favouring any team over another in a control tyre series. If the tyre supplied happens to suit a particular bike over another then that is just a consequence of having a single tyre rule. Swings and roundabouts I'm afraid. |

why would anyone make a certain tire to make the EBR bikes not win? Is anyone really worried that EBR is going to win the championship over them? |

bingo at this point (not saying it'll always be this way, but right now), EBR isnt a real threat to any of the top guys. When was the last EBR podium? Dont get me wrong, they arent the slowest out there, far from it. But no one is really conspiring to screw over the middle-of-the-pack people. maybe the TC will help them out when they get it dialed in and all of that will change. I hope. |

Traction control can help lower lap times for sure, but not by 1.5 or more seconds. NJ is going to be interesting though! Go Geoff May! |

More and more I see a trend to want our favorite bikes and company to always "WIN", weather on the track or in the showroom with sales and that's great but lets not forget EBR is "SOMETHING VERY SPECIAL" as have been all our Buells and for me they are doing great on the track and my 1125R is still the very best street bike I have ever owned and the 1190RS will be even better. I will continue to always support Erik and all the Elves for all they have done and wish them continued success and to grow into something even more special as time goes by. Take it to 'em Erik & EBR. (Message edited by Bob_thompson on August 08, 2013) |
