So I'm assembling an 1125r that I received in a bunch of totes. Its going together fine, but I have run into a mystery hose. It comes off the right side of the bike, just below and between the throttle bodies. I figured it was a vacuum hose for the clutch, so I didn't give it much consideration when I put the frame on. Well, its not the vacuum assist hose, as that is ran along with the wire harness, on the other side of the bike. Duh. It has marks on the end where a clamp once was.

I've searched the manual, and cant seem to find it. Unfortunately, I cant take a picture of it now that the frame is on, so I've attached a picture from the manual. I THINK that is the correct hose. Anyone have a lead?

Sounds like the idle air control valve hose... It routs thru a hole in bottom of the air box cover so that it receives filtered air. It's a common problem for people who remove the air box to improperly route this hose and cause the throttle linkage to bind.

I *think* I have the IAC routed correctly up into the airbox. If I did it correctly, it is a hose with an elbow formed into it. Probably about 4 or 5 inches long. I remember thinking that is was a pain to pull up through the airbox and ended up pulling it off its nipple on the throttle body side.

This hose is around 24" - 30" long. Originates right in the same area, though.

possible retro fit vacuum line for charcoal canister?

I say retro because my charcoal canister vacuum line is as you describe but comes off the left side of throttle body

Whoa, you blew my mind a little, Tbowdre. I completely forgot about some bikes getting retrofitted with a canister. I know my bike is standard emissions based on the vin, but that doesn't mean there wasn't a retro fit.

I think I'm going to have to pull the frame to see what's up.

What connects to these ports?

thermo stat hose would be my guess. i had a hell of a time figuring it out from that picture when i installed the engine. it connects into the top right radiator pod if thats indeed what it is. i incorrectly routed it when i put the frame on so had to extend the hose but it ended up worknig without pulling motor again. here is a pic of the thermostat for ref. http://www.ebay.com/itm/08-Buell-1125R-1125CR-1125 -THERMOSTAT-HOUSING-/190698574346

I think you have it, Samcol. The radiators are not on the bike yet. I bet when I install the right side pod it will all fall into place. Not used to the stat needing vacuum. Thank you!

I think MAP is more likely here, I don't think it's possible to run vaccum to a thermostat, and why would they run hot water into the throttle bodies?

..but I've never torn down an 1125R..

Facepalm... OK, that is embarrassing. I clipped the MAP to the airbox and forgot all about it. Also, The MAP manifold seems to be missing from my pile of parts. I never looked back there again. There should be TWO hoses, both heading back to the manifold that clips to the sensor. Eesh. Thank you for straightening me out, KA and SW. I'm going to drink more beer when Im assembling. Maybe that will help slow me down. Time to source another manifold.

even if you do route something wrong don't panic and remove engine. there were about 3 things that i had routed wrong at diff stages of assembly and found ways to get them corrected without starting from scratch. lack of good pictures (in the 08 service manual)of the wiring harness/hoses and their ending locations was my biggest problem by far. also i was referring to his top picture which i do believe is thermostat hose. i agree with you guys on the bottom pic.
