I live in the middle of nowhere and the nearest HD dealer is not a place I want to go I got the feeling of indifference when it came to buell, like when you meet someone and they think they are better than you and it's poorly disguised. I live at NAS Lemoore in CA (Message edited by stevenfrye on July 15, 2013) (Message edited by stevenfrye on July 15, 2013) |

What do you mean by tune-up. Only thing can be changed are spark plugs. What mileage? |

Scheduled maintenance is every 6k (well..6200 I think). Valve adjustments every 12k. You're not scheduled for anything based on mileage, as long as the bike has been kept on schedule so far. Is it running poorly? Or were you thinking services are every 5k like the aircooled motors? Check your owners manual - there's a chart in the back that shows mileage versus items to check, in a table format. |

dont know when it was last serviced, didnt get that info when i got the bike, she runs like a rapped ape, a little grabby at anything below 4k rpm still getting decent milage and all, just it gets so freakin hot here and heat kill motors. |

Take the T-30 l-wrench out of the toolkit and remove the right pod cover. Check the coolant level and as Nuts4mc said in another thread, replace your coolant with distilled water and Water Wetter as long as you're at Lemoore. If you go where the temp drops to freezing, replace with anti-freeze. Maintenance on this bike is pretty straightforward. Imperative to have the FSM, electrical and parts books are advised. Some steps, like the 12k service take a day or three if you're doing it in the evening after work. Since you have an 08, I strongly recommend you check the rotor nut under the ignition cover. 08s and early 09s had the wrong Loctite and too low torque. Z |
