If they're there...get them.

You're going to need hybrid brackets to put them on an S2. Unless the eBay set has the special brackets, in which case just click. They are RARE.

I have the set off of the Frog with a set of deep lids...shipping is stupid expensive, though. Would love to sell them locally

Jolly,
If you can, wait for a set of S2 bags to come along. My logic...the S3 bags are bigger and will give your S2 a bigger ass then Erik and the elves designed.

Just my opinion. The more then are ridden (chopped ) by the troops, the more parts will become available, if you can wait. Like Rat said, a tank bag will hold quite a bit. Just my $0.02 worth!

As the owner of both kinds of Bags - I really could not recommend the S2 bags. Sure the bracket looks much cleaner, and they have nice lines on the bike with the narrow lids, but my experience with the S2 bags is that they were designed to scatter your belongings to the four winds - perfect if you seek an ascetic lifestyle on the road with no worldly possessions to distract you from your ride.

No matter how carefully I set the locks up, nor how diligent I was in making sure all the tabs engaged, the damn saddlebags would spring open within maybe ten miles - every time. I eventually figured out to only put things in there that wanted to lose with complete plausible deniability.

I overcame the craptactular locking system with a couple of leather belts to hold the bags shut and the insides in. Works OK and doesn't look completely like crap. Not completely.

The S3 bags have got much more robust locking hardware. My theory is that Erik and team knew a lot about how to build a racer, but maybe not so much about luggage. After the HD acquisition, whatever team in Milwaukee that was responsible for the Road Barge FLHTCEIEIO models was assigned the task of designing saddlebags that would keep their insides in.

Hey, you know, now that I have bags for Veronica, I'd get off of the S2 set I have - Bracket, and two full sets of bags - a deep set of Ice White , and a narrow set of Krylon flat white. Also a set of Wall hanging hardware for one set made from a broken bracket.

If anyone wants them after this post, that is...

As for me, Rhonda has a tail pack, fairing bags and tank bag that all work fine. If I need to carry more cargo, I can take the other bike.

Looking at my narrow S2 bags...and the narrow bags on my S3 Defender...I fail to see how the 3 bags are "fatter"?

Here's how I secure my S2 bags - still have factory locks, but added an external pair of tethers (same little cables that catch the lid when you open them) to the outside. Hell...half the time I don't even use the locks anymore...just the tethers!

Having the knurled nuts on "backwards", I can slip the loop of the cable on and off the nut easily enough to open and close the lid.
