Well, definitely know what the problem is now... the most common problem that happens. My dad came over and we got the tank off, spark wire/plug tested good... then I looked at "Das boot" and it had a sizeable tear in it. I'm assuming I was having issues idling before because the hole was smaller and sucking in a bit of air, then the day where it completely died the tear must have gotten much larger. Should I look at investing in the SuperBoot? Or would you recommend the stock replacement? Also, is this a difficult part to replace? It doesn't look like it would take much more work (considering tank and everything is off/unhooked) to do it myself. (Message edited by JordanPlayer on March 16, 2011) |

Not hard to replace - see top of the trouble shooting section, if stock airbox, replace with stock boot, if any aftermarket intake, get the superboot. Always carry a spare! Das Boot strikes again! EZ |

I don't know if I'm missing something but I can't find the information you are talking about. Scoured the forums for about 20 min and not seeing it lol On another note the part is ordered; once it arrives and I get it on the bike I will post results. |

I'm having a similar problem with my blast. It starts and idles fine but as it starts to warm up the engine dies. It will stay running if I engage the throttle but if I just let it sit idling it dies. I'm not sure what is meant by "das boot" |

"Das Boot" is the rubber carb intake manifold connector or 'intake boot'. It's the Blast weak link and while many can go thousands of miles without one ever leaking a backfire or two can rip it as well as can running without an air box (or carb support). The boot is first first thing to check if there is a running problem. |

Try running some Seafoam through the fuel tank. |

Tried seafoam about a week ago. It didn't help. I'll look into the boot. Thanks |

But please, please, please don't take the carb apart "to give it a good cleaning"! Keep us posted. |

Yeah, the coupler definitely has a tear in it. Can you replace it without dismantling anything? |

You have to pull the airbox off, that's it. Carb doesn't have to be disconnected (except from the boot). |

If you unbolt the air-box anchor bolts and screw, take off air-box cover you can change boots with the main air-box on carb. EZ |
