As many of you probably know: 1) 2001 style X1 shifters are obsolete, some of the components are no longer available 2) Boomerang shifters are still available, but they SUCK 3) Banke discontinued his shifters a while ago, and though he will build one-offs, they cost small fortune because he machines them by hand (NOT NC'd). I've had some discussions with him recently about resurrecting them, and he's willing to do it if we get the quantities up. I will do this with him if I can get at least 15 of them pre-sold. So here's the deal. This would be the 2001 style Banke shifter that looked like this: The pivot block would be the split block that holds the chin cowl, but a chin cowl isn't required to use it. The shift shaft arm would be the clear one here:
( but if you want one of the other colors, we can do it too). It will have ball bearing pivots and will be all natural billet. They will work equally well on S1 and X1 models, but the shift arm is a bit long for use on an M2 or S3 (2001 style OEM shifters are still available for those, see http://www.americansportbike.com/shoponline/ccp0-prodshow/17501.html ) . The price for the first ones that people COMMIT to will be $290. After that, they'll be $310 on my web site until I run out. It still isn't cheap, but it's a heckuva lot cheaper than what it costs him to machine one by hand. If you are interested, reply here with a simple post that says your name and the number of them you want, i.e. Al Lighton Qty 1 that's all you need to do now. If the interest is there, and I have 15 commitments by July 1st, I'll turn James on to build them and put the product up on the web site, where you will place your order properly. For now, I just need your word that you intend to buy one for me to turn him on. Al |

I was wondering the same thing about the brake side. Any reason why this wouldn't fit an S2? Either way, put me down for at least one. |

Or you could buy one of these for two hundred bucks. It will work with our without the chin fairing. You will have to use your old shaft knuckle. 100 percent billet

Al, sorry if it seems I'm jacking your thread, no harm intended. I can tell you from experience with Banke parts, if you get the shifter from the wrong model on your bike, they don't fit your foot well and make shifting difficult. I have a spare S1 shifter (which looks similar to the X1) on my S2 and it protruded back so far, I could barely get my foot into it to shift. Here are their specs so you can kinda-sorta judge if it will work with your bike. http://www.bankeperformance.com/buell/shifters.html Beardo: I run this on my S2, though it does reverse the shifting pattern, I like the position and simplicity:
I got it from http://chainsikle.com/menuitem/viewmenuitemproducts/id/1 for $80 |

Al, I spoke with James Banke about a year ago to try and get frame braces made and he said he no longer had the design, sold it with some other things and the person that bought it never went into production with it. I finally found one and would loan it to Banke so that he could copy his own design and turn it back into production if he was interested, or if you were interested in pursuing it as well. Pm me and I will send it to you. |

The idea of a frame brace would be nice, I could use one for each bike. Already have shifter and brake parts from Banke. Al do you carry clamps to fit the frame for steering dampeners? Thanks, Chuck. |

JRMan down for quantity "1" - for use on 1997 S1 Lightning. Shipment to Canada ok? Curious how it mounts to the underside of the primary. Anyone have some close up pics? Currently running "boomerang" sloppomatic shifting mechanism!!!! |

Gmaaan03, don't take this the wrong way but I'm not sure this is the right thread for promoting your shifter. I have no doubt it is a well made piece but you may want to create a separate thread for promoting it. |

I have original production Banke shifter and brake lever on my 99 X1 that I scored from a fellow Badwebber a couple years ago. I could snap a pic of each and try to get them loaded tomorrow night for those of you curious about mounting/fitment for other models. Let me know, I'll check this tomorrow at work and do my best to get pics up if you guys want them. |

James is willing to do a Brake lever as well, but we have to get some quantity commitments on that as well. The biggest issue with that is that the shift lever is the same for all S1/X1 models, but the brake lever is different for the 99-02 X1 vs 98 S1 vs 96-97 S1. I'll have to work with him to figure out the best way for this to occur. I'll get back on that. For now, lets continue, but do it like this: Name Model/year (i.e., X1/01, S1/97) Shifter: Yes Brake Pedal: Yes. If you already chimed in, please do another like this. I'll assume shifter only if I don't see the update. Example: Al Lighton S1W/98 Shifter:yes Brake Pedal:yes We'll look to see if we get critical mass by July 1st, and re-evaluate then. Al PS: Gmaan, please review BWB marketing policy (rule 9)....http://www.badweatherbikers.com/cgibin/discus/disc us.cgi?pg=instructions#rules You can talk to Blake about BWB sponsorship if you'd like. |

Rats! Just bought the shift lever for my X1 last month from James. Beautiful piece, great service, but very pricy. I got a bit of a discount by not getting the holes milled. |

Frank, look at the top of the thread for the price and other info. The brake lever price is still a gray area for now. |
