Should be soon we start hearing about the new bikes, no? I'm very interested in the AX version, but man is the competition fierce in that segment now, especially with the upcoming Caponord.

EBR will be hosting its new dealers and presenting the new lineup at the AIMExpo in October in Orlando, Fla. I don't know if there will be a prior unveiling though.

I talked to a couple of EBR guys higher up the food chain at RA, also saw it posted elsewhere. Pre-order in the next 2 months, $18,999 and as I heard it, if you pre-order, you get some extras/goodies that you wouldn't get otherwise. Production starts sometime around late September or early October of this year, it (as far as I know) will only be the RX model.

^ Very interesting. The pre-order deal seems to be confirmed on the EBR Dealer page under the EBR Program (http://www.ebrdealer.info/program.html):

Factory pre-sale programs to increase revenue by rewarding customer loyalty

I think the coolest thing on this page is this:

Free web-based service manuals and part books are always up-to-date

Hopefully that applies to all of us and not just the dealers.

Already tried to give EBR a deposit on the first AX. So far no word.

We'll see.

My guess is that the next bike will be a cheaper 1190RS, not an AX yet. Though I would LOVE to be proven wrong.

I may be happy. The dealer site seems to hint that there will be more than one new model.

They obviously plan to eventually release 3 models (RX, SX, and AX) but there have been several hints dropped that the RX will be first. That would follow the development path at Buell; the XB9R came out first (early 2002 IIRC) and the XB9S followed in July 2002. Then it was a few years before the Uly came out.

Am I the only one who wants a SX. Road a friends 07 CBR1000RR last weekend for 20 miles at the end the hands just ached. Guess there is no sport bike in Dana's future. The SX will probably be #3 on the release list as it should be considering the volume of posts on each model.

I think it could go either way 46champ. The AX is a hotter market segment right now than the naked standard, so it would make a better second target after the 1190 for the masses.

But an SX would be a much smaller step from the RS... so easier to get there first. Changing an RS into an AX is a massive undertaking. Changing an RS into an SX might be 4 bright guys over a long weekend.

If RX and SX keep same tail section, it could be a real easy change. I imagine the guys at EBR learned a whole lot about multi-model platforms at Buell, and they've had years to think about how they'd do it better.

You know I hope the SX doesn't share a tail section with the RX I hope it has a real 2 up seat and is more of a new M2 or X1 than a new XBS/R hybrid. Of course that would mean EBR just reinvented the standard motorcycle. That would never sell. Oh well.

Dana- I'm with you on the separate tail for the SX; it'll be interesting to see which way they go with it.

I've been occasionally checking on "Linkedin" to see what shows up about EBR. It looks to me like they've added quite a few new employees in the last few months. One name that popped up that I was glad to see was Steve Anderson (Cycle World writer and former Buell Platform Director). Apparently Steve came on board last November.

I, too, hope they get away from the same tail on multiple bikes etc
Sorry, but it was sort of a bummer when several bikes shared the same thing with only a nose changing the looks of it

The only reason the CR shared the same tail as the R was due to the shoestring budget that the bike was designed with. If Buell was allowed to have their way, the CR would have had more drastic differences from the R, and hell the R would have full fairings.

It will be interesting to see what EBR does in regards to model variation.

I know we won't get a sport touring bike, but all I need is some sort of bracketry to hang hard bags on. The bike I should have bought was a Triumph sprint ST. It is now out of production to for lack of sales. That is why I want a standard bike I can turn into a tourer. I don't need a full fairing.

Maybe I don't get it, but a good adventure bike seems to make a far better sport tourer than a sport tourer. Something kind of Uly or XT like, but with a 130 HP motor, would be pretty insanely stupidly fun.

You are probably correct about an adventure bike making a better sport tourer than classical sport tourer. But I have a problem with the look. Most of them to me look kind of bazaar. I have yet to see an asymmetrical girl that looks good, and that is what I think of most BMW's. They are the bid dog in this race so I can see more of the same. Of course I am one to talk I like the looks of Sportsters and they are asymmetrical.

If previous Buells are any indication, I'm sure somebody will either take the suspension and bodywork off of an RX, slap them on an AX, or the hard bags off of an AX and slap them on an RX and make their own "true" sport tourer.

Barkbuster, make sure to read the review that the guy does that owns a 950. He likes the bike but would never take it over his 950. Why? "Soulless". One thing you will never be able to say about a Buell.

yesterday i took a little ride up to the EBR factory to get my ecm re calibrated to my Drummer. The place has grown a bunch since I was last there. used to be a warehouse shop area at the entry door ,now its all office. I suspect there may be some bikes built in the back waiting to be shipped. Anyway a guy reluctantly came out with his laptop and plugged it in. Now my bike runs as good as it ever has. Not as big a change as going to the Drummer but, it smoothed the power across a wider range and enhanced it. I`m hoping they come out with a formidable model to the ktm, multistrada,gs, stuff out there soon.

I'm with the sport tourer thing. Given the ergos and high wide bars on the 1125R, it would be a fantastic sport tourer, if not for the tiny tail section and nonexistant luggage options. My girl is 4'10 and she barely fits, but i have all the room in the world.

I think they should do a modular tail section as an option for like, the ...(RX?) whatever, i don't know how you guys know what the new models will be, too much nomenclature.

Anyhow, instead of a full sport tourer that may not sell, you could buy a larger tail section with luggage brackets & a grab handle. It doesn't have to be huge, just reasonably useful. Order it that way as a factory option, or buy it seperate as a kit.

Sort of like putting a Ully tail on an 1125. If you could.

So if the rear subframes are the same, you put the (AX?) adventure touring tail on the ummm RX & make a hybrid. Adventure tourers are fantastic bikes, but as aforementioned they are almost all vomit inducingly stupid looking, and with my 29 inch inseam, impractically tall. Nobody takes the damn things offroad anyhow, I don't need a foot of ground clearance, or soft springs & I definately ain't paying a premium for it.

(Think Honda VFR1200 with the luggage, without the linked brakes crap, & sportbike forks. That's the idea.)

Seems like a good way to offer model flexibility and keep production costs down.

Hybrid....Modular....

EBR's had the model designations listed on their site for a year or so now. Mousover "motorcycles" at the top of the page, and it shows the 1190RS at the left of the window, and "Future Models RX SX AX" at the right of the window. Erik and other EBR personnel have stated the RX will be a sport bike, the SX will be a naked, and the AX will be an adventure bike.

Yep. I like the modular idea. Good bags, bars and slightly lower pegs make the 1125R an excellent sport touring mount. Ask me how I know.
