I need a shock for my '97 S3. The original is leaking profusely. What's a good price to pay? I've seen a number of NOS units selling on eBay. Does anyone know of a shop that can rebuild mine for less than I'll pay new? I have the type (Showa, I believe) with the non-exposed spring. Buell Customer Service said they won't cover it. Scott, the old shocks can be rebuilt, but in my opinion its not worth it. What you want is a post recall shock.Easy to spot in a pic , the rear eye mount is much larger. The kicker is this shock is shorter eye to eye, you need to replace the shock mount as well. These come up on e-bay as a complete kit once in a while, $100 to $150 would be a fair price if its brand new. The older style shocks are on e bay all the time, but not worth the hassle unless you just need to keep the thing on the road. | ||
