Chill out. I know you're a smart guy by seeing you on here and I knew you wouldn't take it seriously. But somehow you did. I see a lot of members get uptight on Badweb over loosely said shit. Much more than other forums. What's sad is this forum used to be a lot more lively and felt like a community. Its gotten really slow and it appears Badweb has become more of a place for Buell riders to bitch about politics. I just needed to get that off my chest. This is not an attack at you Rogue, just an overall observation of the activity around here. I respect you and thought you would have seen humor in it but I misjudged. Sorry. | ||

Well, just to be on the safe side, I went ahead and bought new coolant specific to motorcycles for my 1125R. Will change out my coolant tomorrow for another couple of years of happy riding. | ||

Ok so I changed my coolant following the procedures outlined in the Service Manual. It warned me: "Cover painted parts to protect finish". Ok I did using rags. Damn Coolant got all over the rags and dripped on engine finish and muffler (which I recently got ceramic coated)! Thanks for the warning EBR! I really should have used aluminum foil or something to protect engine finish. The left radiator hose was difficult to take off and halfway through prying it off it started to drip coolant all over the muffler again. Luckily I did put AL foil on the left side of the engine so that saved it! Live and learn! What a messy Cluster-f***! Here's the weird part. I only put about 2.3 liters of new coolant in there. Service Manual said it requires 3 Liters. So...????? I must not have drained it all? Got to be if I use Sherlock's method of deduction. | ||

As long as you didn't create a dreaded air bubble in the system then maybe you didn't get all of the coolant out. Those are the only two real explanations. I hate changing coolant as I'm always sure I left an air pocket and then I have to try to burp it out without overheating. | ||

Well I only let the bike idle for 10min & the coolant pretty much just stayed level for a while after a few refills to the filler neck. So now I'm ??? Should I have let it keep idlin longer? The Coolant Temp held steady at 181 deg for a while. | ||

speaking of coolents i love to take my bike through the twistys but at 118 deg outside i am finding alot of over heating. | ||

I will take that as a well deserved Gig, but I urge you to pay attention to whats going on in washington dc. As for the air pocket, I ran into the same deal when I had to open my cooling system during an engine rotation, some DINK used locktite on the pod screws and I destroyed the left backside half, getting things loose, the FSM has a procedure for refilling the system, in essence you run the motor with the radiator cap off and keep toping it off as it warms up and fills NOTE IIRC you are not to rev the engine while doing it. I tried to empty the system by using compressed air to force the coolant out of the motor. I have not had any over heating issues to date following the FSM procedure. } | ||

Do you think they intend for the bike to be on a set of stands (straight) or on the kick stand (leaned over)? | ||

The water pump is located on the starboard side of the bike, where the clutch cover is located. I would think that keeping the bike on the kickstand would help bleed the water pump of all air, but don't know that to be a fact. |
