I just bought a 98 S3T w 20k miles. Pearl white w Pm's. looks good in pics but needs paint work and the pm's are pitted. It has a Baker 6spd and some chrome bits. Also needs a new battery and tires. Any suggestions other than all I've mentioned? Going to address the battery and look for some tires, change the oil. Bike sat for 6 years. |

Expect rocker box gaskets, probably a primary seal, recommend intake seals. check the exhaust mounts. check primary chain and oil. Pitted Pm's can be polished out or at least polished. check and monitor stuff as you start riding expect some things to show up after some use. Recomended non urgent fixes, bronze oil pump gear remove grenade plate from clutch, replace with 2 steel 1 fiber replace cast front motor mount with bilit examine engine rubber mounts for wear /damage check shock for leakage and function ( rebuild or replace as desired ) Check with S3 owners for other issues, these are "Generic" across tube frame bikes. |

It does have the billet motor mount and I'm already thinking of the new shock. It feels pretty gone. Thanks oldog. Sounds like I have some work ahead of me. I still can't upload pics from my phone, keeps saying they're too big |

The primary chain tensioner plate should probably be replaced. Barry |

Do what you suggested (tires, battery, and fresh fluids) and drive the bike. Then you will better know what changes work for you and the bike will let you know what it needs. An excellent shock is always money well spent but if the stocker is still run it until a good deal on a used works or penske shows up. |
