Got a chance to get one of these screeming 2 strokes but don't know enough about em to commit. Decent track bike or too much of a bother? |

Based on owning a 71 Bison (250cc rotary valve enduro)... it will make great power, require frequent fussing and rebuilds, but will be easy to rebuild. The deal breaker for me was availability of a few key parts... pistons, rings, cables, etc. You could kinda get them all, but some were getting stupid expensive ($100 cables, $200 piston/ring sets). |

They are awesome. Extremely light and handles great. I had to down size, but regret having to sell this one cause i just wasn't riding it in Florida, too flat!

LOL! Damn straight he never rode one! Ride one & you'd be hooked! Probably never rode a Kawi H1 either. That RZ350 rips, awesome acceleration and so light. I had one before that with chambers, air box mod, rejetted & damn it lite up! The H1 scary fast, but not as near as light & does not handle as well. Riding an RZ is like riding something totally on the other end of the spectrum. Variety is the spice of life! I always wanted to do a track day with the RZ, but it was just too nice. If I find one like my 1st, off to the track I will go...

i have seen those bikes in movies from the 70s and they look like they are fun back then specially when you see the preppy kids riding those and then they get beat up by the outlaws in their harleys. i could not see my self riding those thye look too light |

LOL! I felt the same way in the 70's & 80's when I was riding & still do HD's, Norton's, Triumph's and BSA's. I have a buddy from another forum that many years ago posted something about his RD. He mirrored me in the type of bikes he liked, brit bikes and HD's. I was curious about why he liked that RD. Well that same week I found a non running RD350 on craigslist for cheap, with little work got it running. They are exhilarating! I got hooked on the 2 stroke street bike. As I get older I don't give a fu*k whether it it's cool or not, the light weight combined with the quickness and handling of those bikes (except the H1) are quite enjoyable. Most of the HD guys now appreciate the 60's 70's bike they used to make fun of. The RZ350 was the last year of a production street bike sold in the USA. Whatever floats your boat. But to the original poster. If you can get an RZ for a nice price (they are starting to command high prices) I would try it, probably won't lose money if you decide to flip it. There's a ton of support out there for them as well, just like this forum. |

I see the H-1 has the steering neck frame brace added, but no damper. They are vicious machines and are a handful if you suddenly shut the throttle and grab a bunch of front brake at speed. That's why the H-2 had a damper from the factory. I drag raced an H-2 for quite some time. It had Paul Gast cylinders and a set of 38 Lectrons with Denco pipes. Damn fast for it's day. Your H-1 is a beauty! I would love to have a 2 smoke streetbike again. The smell of Klotz Green Label is forever burned into my brain. |

I used to commute across London on an original Yamaha LC350 (the precurser to the RZ/RD350PV without the power valve), fitted with a set of Lomas pipes that were LOUD! Trying to bimble past brixton police station at 5am quietly was hard I can tell you. Once past there it was front wheel up and a manic street race through South London and across Blackfriars Bridge every morning Happy days......... |

Excellent! There is a great following to the RZ. When I brought it to the Barber Vintage days everyone was checking it out & praising it. They should, it's an awesome ride! Good luck |

My 2 pennies. I purchased a white '86 new in '87. The biggest mod I made was a pair Allspeeds. Absolutely loved the bike. I always liked showing off by hand starting it by using the kick lever. It met an untimely end when I hit a deer with it. Too bad, I still miss that bike. Some day I would love to have another. Bob |
