just bought my first bike, an 05 buell blast. im not familiar with street bikes at all, but have rode quads and dirt bikes long enough to at least know how to ride the bike (albeit not that comfortably). i have the bike in neutral, and hold the clutch to start it, ive let it idle holding in the clutch for about 5 minutes (2 times) and both times i let go, it dies. am i doing something wrong? might it be an issue i could trouble shoot easily? any help would be appreciated. |

Do you have the side stand up? There is an engine cut out switch on the side stand. If you are starting it w/the side stand down & let the clutch out the bike will stop running. Pull in clutch Start bike Raise side stand Let out clutch & pull away. |

would removing that kill switch be a reasonable solution to the problem, or might that be unsafe? i dont really see the practical use of killing the bike when its just standing upright, but then again im a noob hah. |

Look in the Blast section. Disabling the kick stand safety is no big deal. It's there to stop you riding off with the stand down. The Blast section has the best method to disable it somewhere in there. |

So long as you start it with the clutch in & leave it in neutral you should be able to leave it on the side stand while it warms up. Trouble is, the bike will often "walk backwards" if you are not on it. |
