WI racetrack. “This is our home track and a lot of our supporters will be on hand” say Erik Buell, team owner and CEO of Erik Buell Racing, a small East Troy Wisconsin motorcycle manufacturer and engineering consulting company, “We always enjoy meeting our fans and the big turnout is very inspiring. Road America is a tough track and the team has been hard at work getting ready. We are hoping for solid results”
EBR, founded by Mr. Buell in 2009, designs and builds American sport bikes. The first EBR motorcycle produced is the exotic 1190 RS racing at Road America. It is a Superbike built in very limited numbers and is designed to be competitive in the AMA Superbike series with very few modifications. EBR is the only American manufacture competing in the Superbike series, and the multiple top five and podium finishes earned by EBR in 2012 AMA Pro Superbike series demonstrate just how competitive this new motorcycle is. EBR finished third in the manufacturers standings in 2012, a stunning achievement for the first season.
Rider Geoff May will be in the saddle of the #99 Team Hero 1190RS, sponsored by Hero MotoCorp and AMSOIL. Geoff is an extremely talented AMA racer with a bright future ahead of him. Aaron Yates is aboard the #20 Team AMSOIL/Hero 1190RS, and is also a very experienced AMA rider with several championships and a Superbike podiums on his resume.
“I truly enjoy being with the EBR team and am looking forward to our second season on the EBR 1190RS” says Geoff, “It is an amazing motorcycle already, and being able to work side by side with the guys who actually designed the bike is exciting.” Aaron also expressed his feelings, “I have had a long and successful career in AMA Superbike, and it is really something special to now be racing an American motorcycle in this class.”
Hero MotoCorp Ltd is an Indian Company and is the world’s largest producer of two-wheeled vehicles. In 2012 they signed strategic agreements with EBR to not only sponsor the EBR AMA Superbike team, a first for any Indian company, but also to develop new models using EBR’s cutting edge technology and expertise in the motorcycle market.
AMSOIL, based in Superior, Wisconsin, is a world leader in synthetic lubricant technology and was the world’s first manufacturer of API-qualified synthetic motor oil.
