Richieg150 Nice shootin'! I was joking about the shotgun at 300 yrds. As a shooter, you know the odds of even hitting a barn with a slug is slim at best This was at Ft. Meade 1000meter range... With this... Thats at 800 meters, |

forgive him... 800 yards, hitting the targe alone is a good shot in my book... especially since they are all within the outer circle... on on the bullseye isn't all too bad either.. now do that with a stock AR-15, with iron sights and i will be extremly impressed... my friend did it at 650 yards, but he is active army, sharpshooter, so he kind of has to do that on a regular basis. that kind of shit is scary. 650 yards with no scope, hitting that target. RUN MAN RUN!!! NOPE!! BAM! |

Yeah, I don't think a Spaz 12 would hit a barn at 300 after the first shot... But try a Benelli, you WILL be amazed. I'd bet a pro could do it 3-4 times a second (the barn, not the bullseye ) Oh, and the benelli will put more rounds downrange than that Spaz in a given time, you just have to pull the trigger each time. plus you get all those neat benifits like being able to hot load and speed load and they weigh a lot less. All around better weapon if you ask me. |

One bro in law has a 20 Ga. Bennelli, kicks harder than a 12 ga. pump w/slugs (in both). Beauty of a gun though, nice workmanship. My other bro in law has a Browning Gold Hunter. Makes 12 Ga. field loads kick like my Browning 20 ga. double. I'm not terribly recoil sensitive, but I'll take the advantage of a gas gun. 12 ga. saboted slugs out of a rifled barrel are good out to 200 yds ( Ithaca Deerslayer 3 is an excellent choice) but the trajectory looks like a rainbow @ 300. Doesn't mean you can't hit the target, the old 45-70 rifle does the same & you can hit a man sized target 700 yds away, but the aim point is well over! My only complaint with the SPAS is it's real heavy, I'll take the Bennelli if I have to walk miles with one. Good shooting on the 800 yd range! I can't even see the target out there w/out a scope. ( which is the reason I didn't buy the AR-50 when I could have got a deal ) |

Thats great shooting. My big kid was clanging the target at 500 meters with a crunchy trigger and an old SP1 upper using Wolf ammo off-hand last year. I guess his eyes are still good. Blackbelt....you live in a swamp too? Anyplace close to mine? |

...Whats the max. effective range of an M16?...300yrds? Come on man! I'm sure there are others here that have qualified with an M16. The Spas is heavy,at just under 10lbs. But you should try humpin' with the above weapon and associated gear! (about 64lbs.) And if I'm going to "lobe" my rounds its going to be with a mortar} |

Been awhile since I was in the service, but I think the FM says M16 max effective range was like 400m or something. It's more than 300 yards though. |

I saw a tactical training problem a SWAT guy with a pumpable auto shotgun ran through once. Both very impressive. Is that a Benelli or Spaz? I'm used to just the usual pump Riot gun. Our old rangemaster thought it was fun for us to shoot clay doubles with them using 00buck. I have shot silhouette and 500 meter offhand but my scores are nothing special. You guys have great skills. I'm far better with a pistol and enjoy them the most but I'm not nearly as good as some I've trained with. I know a guy who used to pull the trigger on one of the 16in. "rifles" on the Mighty Mo. Try as I might I don't think I'll ever match that. I'ts a great hobby/sport. |

The talk I got at Edson Range (USMC) was that the M-16A1 was good for about 300M. Beyond that the ballistics of the .223 cartridge worked against it. The M1 (I've never shot one) was the favored "long range" rifled tool of choice. The USMC had competitions at 1,000M with the M1. Sounds funny now, but one of the things I was proudest of in the service was qualifying Expert with a perfect score at 300M in the rapid fire with the M16. Court |

Court, You can pick up a military M1 for a small price of $375 dollars if you qualify with one in a competition. Alot of gun clubs have cerirified matches. Definately worth the $375. |
