OK, so here is the deal. I scored a TM42 at a swap meet for a cool $100. The carburetor is good to go. Carburates cleanly. I have one on my FXR, so I'm familiar with the carbs themselves. My problem? The stock throttle cable. It's too long. Now, I remember years ago, Mikuni listed two different part numbers for the kits (may still do, I haven't looked) but what is the difference? Does it simply come down to the diameter of the wheel for the throttle side? So who can complete the end of this story? |

Make a spacer for your cable housing. That'll get you on the road while you look for a correct length cable. anything solid you can cut a slot into and drill a hole through the center of will do; put it by the adjuster near the handlebar. |

To do it right, you need Mikuni part no. TM42/51 Cable Bracket Assembly.
Just google the part number or you can download a parts list from Mikuni. The cable stops are longer. Good luck! (Message edited by kc_zombie on April 25, 2013) |

I used two roll pins one banged inside the other then cut to length & a slot cut in lengthways. |

I have the TM42/51 (or whatever comes with the HSR42/11) but I still found the cable too long on my S1. First of all I made a spacer up: http://www.ukbeg.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=17&t=39 91 This works OK. On my second S1, I bought cable parts from Venhill (and eBay) and shortened the pull cable: http://www.ukbeg.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=150131# p150131 (Message edited by pash on April 26, 2013) |

As it turns out, the part number for the Sportster/Buell is TM42/53, which I have on order. |
