Whats up guys, I have a rattle noise at 35mph in 2nd gear and 45 in 3rd gear. It seems to be coming from in between the head light and the frame. Could this be the connectors hitting the frame, Or maybe somethings loose? I don't get any extra vibration and everything seems pretty tight. I was also thinking maybe its where the forks got through the frame. Thanks | ||

I took the flyscreen off and put the stock headlight back on. It made this noise with both set-ups. I'll get the tools off the boat today and tighten stuff up. Thanks | ||

Is it the horn? That mount has been known to break. Or maybe its a loose nut behind the handlebars  | ||

Yeah i'll check the nut out tonight, the horn seems pretty good. I'm going to go with my dad later to check out a yamaha tw200 that he wants. He wants a blast but he also likes dual sports, The bike is pretty cool looking with the huge rear tire plus it's a THUMPER  | ||

Well I tightened the nut under the handlebars and the front bottom engine mount, both were loose but I still get a rattle noise. Is it just a sound these bikes make or is this not normal. I would think a motorcycle would make some noise naturally with so much wind exposure and vibration. | ||

Check your exhaust mounts. They have a tendency to wiggle loose. | ||

Yeah I tightend the bottom front mount and even put some fiberglass in between but im still getting the rattle, it gets faster at 40 mph in second and is barely noticeable in 3rd at 45 mph, It could be alot of things vibrating together I guess but I just hope it's a "benign" noise. Thanks for the tip though. | ||

I've got two rattles I'm still trying to track down. I found the noise from the front pegs... still trying to find a way to shut that up. As for the other two. One is coming from the rear shock, and another is coming from around the front forks / horn area. I have tightened and dampened everything I can find with my hand but the noise continues... | ||

OK so at least i'm not alone on this, I was looking for a few hours today with the tank off and can't find anything. It just drives me crazy. I have to take into account that somethings can make more noise than you think from all the vibration. | ||

Evilbetty, check out your tire hugger for the rattle noise near the shock. I noticied if I tap mine it makes a loud noise because it's hitting the swing arm. There is also about a 1 millimeter notch from the plastic hitting the swing arm. I put a small piece of rubber in between there and will go for a test ride whenever it stops raining. | ||

I just moved my bike into my garage and when i leaned it over on it's kick stand I heard a noise that sounded like a steel nut rolling in a can. The same kind of noise I hear when I'm riding. I wonder if someone dropped a nut somewhere in the bike and that's what I'm hearing. Where could It be I wonder? Anyone ever hear of something like this? Thanks | ||

Try the footpegs or the tank cover. Both rattle, both are distinct. The pegs a higher pitch. The tank cover more of a growl. If your tank cover isn't fully seated around the fuel cap assembly, make sure it is (but it can still rattle, even if it is fully seated). Keep us posted! | ||

Probably not either of those things. Plastic connectors won't make enough noise, lose forks would result it seriously bad handling and still wouldn't make noise due to the weight of the bike on the forks. Try taping or rubber bands on the pegs. You could take the tank covet off to eliminate that possibility. | ||

If you notice on the stock horn mount bracket, two strips of metal where used, and when a tad loose rattle and hum - lol - in its place is a small stanley sraight bracket in ss, sold at most HDWR stores - widen holes with drill, painted black - lol - no more breakage or noise from that area. EZ |
