Due to a lifter roller seizing and flat-spotting which scored one of the cams. Replaced the 4 lifters and cams. So is the 25649-01A Screaming Eagle Performance XL Cam Set the same as 1996 S1 original equipment? Or is it better or worse performance wise? Due these cams tend to run noisier than stock? |

Just for the record, how many miles did you have on those cams? |

These are the SE536s, they are higher lift than stock and also better performance. I don't hear much of a difference between the stock and 536 cams. When fitting, you need to be careful with the piston to valve clearance on the exhaust at TDC. I had to machine 30 thou or so out of the valve pockets on the pistons. Since you have quoted the 01A part number, you will also need a later pinion gear. The stock cams are 25648-91 both in the parts book and the SE catalogue. |

I believe the SE536 part number is 25647-91. I had to clearance the rocker boxes a touch for them. |

Maybe they changed part number. I was just going off the catalogue and what I bought...

Rich, what bike did you have to clearance the rocker boxes? Was it just the topmost covers that needed clearancing? Greg, a little over 105k but that's just what the odo shows. (not counting when the drive cable was broken for about 3 mo's on the way back from the Milwaukee & East Troy trip) |

I know you guys have it all in the bag, but this is my kinda build log with the same cams you have bought... http://www.ukbeg.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=164015# p164015 No clearancing issues for me, but then again I am using XB heads and rocker boxes. |

Sparky, it was my '91 RS1200. They're still in it, 20 years later. http://www.ebay.com/itm/25647-91-Harley-Sportster- XL-Performance-Cam-Kit-/200871259147 Maybe this number is different because it had the valve springs included? |
