I got my 1999 Cyclone back from a friend who I sold it to 6 years ago...The good news is, it has no more miles on it than when I sold it to him (it needed a starter, he never fixed it then deployed to Afghanistan for a year, bought an H-D when he got home)...The bad news is, it hasn't run in 6 years. It has been kept indoors, but it is hysterically filthy from his dusty ass garage. He did at least drain the fluids (had the tank re-painted) and cleaned the carb. The tires look surprisingly good, we shall see how she goes when I get her back to life. I have an H-D FLTRX but rode Buells long before I switched over to H-Ds. I plan on keeping it around as an extra bike and something to have some fun on when I feel the need to get a little stupid. I can't wait to get her going again | ||

Welcome back to it! Suggest you are careful on those old tires to see if they can stand a little stupid before you let it all loose, maybe a good coating of dust and dirt has helped preserve them! If you still have old stock D205's though, you will be very pleased with how any of the new sport touring tires handle in comparison. Gaskets and seals indeed. Been dealing with that on my 1991 F150 with (only) 70K miles. Fortunately it's all within easy reach on the bike. | ||

I suspect once you get the M2 back up to snuff...the FLTR will get less and less use  Definitely check out the Michelin Pilot Road3 dual compound tires. I have them on my tubers and LOVE them. I wouldn't even try to ride on the old tires. Good way to start disliking the bike immediately...as well as a good way to find a ditch. | ||

Ditto what Rat said, I've a PR3 on the front & a PR2 on the back of my M2 & it handles nearly as well as my XB did, takes a bit more muscle than the XB though. | ||

+1 on the Michelin Pilots - great tires! Your front motor mount has been redesigned. It came to the notice of the engineers that the part used was intended to support weight from above being a big twin motor mount. The new front mount is intended to have weight hang from it, like our motors. Easy to install, easy to purchase from Al at American Sport Bike. If you have the old front rotor, look into that upgrade, too. Better design. | ||

I've got the Galfer Wave rotor on my M2 from Twin MCs, looks & works great & far cheaper than anything else I've found. |
