Right side latch broke on me, not exactly sure what part of it, but it's something internal. I Also can't figure out how to get this thing open without breaking it. Tried to search, and there are plenty of forums saying drill a hole "here", but none with pictures anymore. So right now, I've got the right bag on my bike, unable to open. Help me out please! Guess I need a new latch? Let me know if you got one, and feel free to help me get this open. |

This is where I drilled mine on the left side, just reverse for the right, trip the bellcrank to open using a nail or stiff wire.

Thanks for that, ended up drilling a couple of holes because it wouldn't move. Seems the little metal thing that trips the crank broke off. So, if anyone can point me in the direction or has one laying around, need a latch. Thanks |

If you have the piece that broke, it can be fixed. I used a SMALL drill bit, and drilled into the end of the broken piece (the break face). I threaded a small screw into it, about 1/2" long. Cut the head off. Drilled a matching hole in the break face of the piece still on the latch. Used the screw as a "pin" to hold the two together. Covered the screw with JBWeld, slid the pieces together, coated the exterior with more JBWeld for mass and strength. |

Thanks for the parts numbers. I was thinking about doing that Ratbuell, but it appears I have the old latch even though I have a 99 S3T. Think it might be better to just get a pair of new latches. Hopefully less headache in the future. |

Alright, called my local dealer, they don't have any and aren't able to get any. Did give me another part number though. C0472.B Is that for the newer one? Couple searches for the parts, and I can't find either of them. So, still looking for one from one of you guys hopefully. Also read some guys were able to use a Harley Part, anyone know what one just in case I can't find one? Thanks |

Latus HD have both of the part #'s for sale. I think they are a sponsor of this board. S/BAG LATCH, R.H.(W/O LOCK), 91298-97Y - Harley Davidson www.latus-harley-davidson.com › Home › Harley-Davidson-hd S/BAG LATCH, L.H.(W/O LOCK), 91297-97Y - Harley-Davidson www.latus-harley-davidson.com › Home › Harley-Davidson-hd Dunno if this is for real but give them a whirl. Yeah, already contacted those guys. Apparently that's the old part number, and they're sold out of the newer one. Hoping to replace my old one with a better one, not one that'll break on me again. |

Am currently in the same boat. Found one latch on a foreign site. Too much with shipping. Let me know if you find any latches anywhere. I will do the same. SteveH |
