I had a royal mess under my seat and above my rear wheel. I've cleared up the rocker vent tube with XB covers and the transmission vent tube with a new crank seal, but my right swing arm leg is still getting some oil on it. Has anyone got experience with changing the oil seal under the drive sprocket? Can I do it without pulling the transmission cluster? I'd like to just pull the drive sprocket, pry the old seal out, and install a new one. Will this work? (Message edited by harleyelf on April 15, 2013) | ||

Yeah, can be done, mine was replaced under warranty on my Firebolt. | ||

james, just a question for you if the oil is coming from behind the sprocket how is it hitting your front fork if it is set back and you have the cover on.. just curious,, ohhh and btw the tach is still working great. | ||

Oops, the statement is no longer operative, as Ron Ziegler used to say when a reporter asked him why President Nixon's statements contradicted what he had said a week earlier. I meant right swing arm leg, not fork. There's another guy on the board having trouble getting his front caliper off the rotor and I've got forks on the brain. Glad the old tach's working. The SU carburetor is still working great, too. No regrets. | ||

It was easier than I imagined possible. Loosened the rear axle adjusters, removed the sprocket, and there it was! Old one popped right out, new one popped right in. | ||
