Most GP circuits lose money on spectator attendance. Especially those that are built to accomodate much larger crowds that attend F1 races. The circuit also has to pay massive 'licencing' fees to DORNA just to be able to host the GP. If they are lucky they may get their investment back in TV revenue but many lose money and are bailed out by local state/district authorities who see the benefit in tourism dollars for the local area. Many of the European GP's are in dire financial straits too |

Excellent, Craig. You beat me to it! Think I'll order a T-Shirt for myself. I'm NOT going to Austin next month, but I WILL be wearing it in Indianapolis in August (unless, of course, the situation has changed for the better for Kevin). |

Who would have thought that someone could screw up so bad that the Hulman family could look like a bastion of restraint and foresight. |

I hate to say it but I don't see myself going to Indianapolis again for a motorcycle race. all that mesh fence around the perimeter of the track takes the fun away. NJ has a nice track where you can actually see the bike logos. I was hoping a GP race would come to the East instead of Indy. |

I enjoy Indy. I'm going again this coming August; and in the past, I've had no problem following the race. Plus, along with the GP, I get to see a Mile at the Fairgrounds. Maybe they should move the GP to VIR? |

Just a week away from race one. I'm looking forward to this season. Can Pedrosa bring it home this year. Will Lorenzo be out gunned by Honda??? Can the Rookie be that good??? Is Rossi going to be in the title hunt ?? Excitement is brewing. |

When watching a moving subject, the mesh will hardly even be noticeable. |

It does make it difficult to get a good photo, though. |

With the "depth of field" set on the bikes on the track most of the screening will be invisible. |

sounds like you guys have not been to indi track, it really sucks. you have to be way up in the stands to see anything, and by then NIcky is the size of a penny. |

I've been to Indy twice, and had no problem seeing the bikes either from the infield, or from the stands. As usual, you're talking through your ass. |

Ummmm been Indy plenty. Never had a issue. Had no problem getting this shot amongst a lot of others.

Been to the first two F1 races at Indy. Sat up in the NW Vista great view of the first five or so corners and the end of the front strait. Long lens and a monopod and pics were good. |

lol, most people do not have a huge lens or care to carry a 50lbs lens around when watching the races. my smart phone or average cam does not have that lens luxury |

This was a 18-135mm lens. This was nothing more then a kit lens in comparison. So saying 50lbs .... your exaggerating. |

Mine was an old 500mm mirror reflex lens about 6.0" in length not heavy or expensive |

Yamaha 1-2-3 in QP1 (Lorenzo/Crutchlow/Rossi). What was surprising to me was Dovi's slot in fifth, well ahead of Pedrosa in 8th. |

Gentlemen; you're feeding a troll. He's started shit in other threads, as well. Check out this attempt: http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/406 2/709247.html?1365093454 If you feed him, he won't go away. |

the question is when is a GP team going to get Hayes a bike. there needs to be more AMA guys going into GP. and the current americans are just not cutting it. its time for new faces. the fact that 3 GP races are in the US should create more opportunities. |

Hayes is too old, unfortunately. His team mate (the "other Josh") however, is a definite candidate. |

Jaimec is right about Hayes. I spoke to him last year at NJMP and he said at this point in his career he is too old for any major team to invest into him with all the "new" tracks, equipment etc. (Message edited by jumbo petite on April 05, 2013) |
