What octane do you use in your 1125's ?? I noticed the manual says 90. Here in south Florida it is either 87, 89, or 93. I have been using 89 and have not heard any pinging but I can't be sure with a full face helmet on. I have Barker's exhaust and EBR matching ECM. Is 89 safe?? thanks Mort |

Use the lowest octane that is rated for the bike, the bike in stock form is tuned for 91 octane, the manual says 91 not 90. 93 is safe to use but will just cost more than 91. I don't know what octane the Race ECM is tuned for, so I would run it on 93 just in case. These bikes do not have a knock sensor, so if it is pinging from low octane it cannot retard the timing to prevent damage. |

I've been using 89 octane for several years with not a burp. The bike just goes. Should point out that ambient temps in my area rarely exceed 30C. At least when I fell like riding. Higher tamps may affect that.h |

+2 93 octane here. Not that much more in the long run. |

I use to run 91-93. Been using 89 as of late with no issues to report. Bike runs as well as it always has. |

Colorado, 5k-ft elevation, premium is 91. Both Buells(1125R, XB12X) will tolerate 87 for a tank, not 2. Z |

I usually grab whatever the highest at the station is. Usually, that's 93. |

Buy the highest octane you can get but most important is to try to avoid ethanol if you possibly can. |

Our "winter gas" is 10% ethanol. all grades. My fuel economy sucks. Low 30s on the Uly. Performance is fine, tho a little better on "summer gas" that's lower, 5% or so. We always have some ethanol, thanks to the EPA and Denver. Z |

I do what I can to never run ethanol. I was extremely surprised to find that DGMR had ONLY gas with 10% ethanol! I ran it, for lack of choice, but the bike didn't like it. It ran much better once I got good ol 93 back into it. I have also found that in TN, you cannot find 91 octane, it's 89 or 93. |

I run 93 since I only have a choice of 87 89 or 93 here in NY. |
