I searched the knowledge vault but could not find a good match to my issue. 99S3T, love it, lots of work and many miles. recently I got caught out and didn't notice fuel light on in direct sunlight. Ran her dry, hitched a ride to a station for a liter and then filled tank. Everything fine. next time out the barn she throws a code and sets off the V-twin warning light, the light comes and goes with no pattern I can find. Once home I count the flashes and get the fuel pump code. Is this a result of the run dry, or just a coincidence? I know they hate to run out of fuel. The pump is the OEM unit with 40k on it. I have also heard that a ford fuel pump is a cross fit just like the injectors, is this true? My thinking is that pumps go bad suddenly, they don't get sick and carry on for a while in a diminished capacity. Am I mistaken? Thanks |

You'll probably have to run it a few miles so the ECM can relearn after running it dry. |

The ride I went on was 60 miles at 50-65 mph which is why I was concerned the code did not go away. Although it does come and go while riding. I will try to hook up my ecmspy and clear the code. Just to note, it runs perfect, just the red light keeps me on edge. (Message edited by vecchio lupo on March 28, 2013) |

Nothing to worry about. You need multiple start cycles to clear that code...ride it. |

I put 150 miles on it Sunday, the V-twin light came on 2 or three times early in the ride ans stayed off, I hope that is all there is to it. |
